Overview: The Director of Marketing and Communications will join a team of 60 purpose-driven staff members in a friendly, focused, fast-paced entrepreneurial office environment where we are currently serving over 600 chapters and more than three-quarters of a million members. The Director of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for the planning, and oversight of team executing, all of the marketing and communications efforts. Under ‘Marketing and Communications’, we will be looking for a dynamic and accomplished individual who has successfully led teams in Marketing (getting our message out to attract more students to accept their invitation and getting additional schools to bring to their institution) and Communications (taking care our membership and chapter leaders with consistent quality in communication and engagement initiatives). An important note for candidates considering applying -- training on, and execution of, writing in the established and desired voice will play a significant role in the on-boarding process with the company founder. Our desire is to have someone learn this desired voice, demonstrate proficiency (and continued improvement) in the language, to then guide their team members and the organization in this voice. This role forms part of the Executive Management Team, which works closely together to set the strategic direction and lead the growth of the organization developing into new markets. We are looking for someone who knows not only effective delegation, but who enjoys and has experience implementing and executing projects themselves. Responsibilities: Communications ? Lead Communications team, which includes the Communications Coordinator, with oversight of the annual communications calendar which includes all internal and external communications. ? Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of communications methods, costs, and results (e.g. web-based communications tools) specific to chapter and member engagement ? Oversee and enhance the Scholarships/Awards program, increasing visibility and overall impact of the initiative ? Adeptly lead crisis response as needed ? Keep members’ area content updated with current chapter leader and general member materials ? Work with technology team to optimize the user experience in the members’ area to drive member engagement in available resources ? Nurture and develop established partnership opportunities, including driving revenue, member experience optimization, and brand affiliation with the organization ? Actively manage and respond to all online reviews and queries ? Video Production: ability to review and edit content for videos (i.e. storyboard, script writing), being present at video shoots to direct and make sure the final vision is executed on, etc. ? Coordination and successful execution of various events, both locally and nationally: ? Create the strategy for future National Office events ? Project manage and execute partner events (i.e. NASPA) ? Evaluate national conference model, and other revenue generating initiatives Marketing ? Drive updates to existing public facing website for higher conversion of visitors to members ? Lead marketing plans for new product/program initiatives ? Develop new ideas for invitation testing to increase response rate ? Implement brand awareness and authority initiatives ? Garner positive national PR Overall ? Efficient management of people, projects and resources, outside vendors, consultants, customer service contractors, and public relations agencies ? Create and meet budgetary standards and goals as outlined within the objectives of the role Qualifications: ? 7+ years of experience in communications or marketing ? Bachelor's degree required ? Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a Communications/Marketing team ? Experience creating and executing internal and external communication plans ? Experience in strategic planning and execution ? Passion for innovation with the ability to initiate ideas and lead initiatives from inception ? Ability to assist with the communications efforts across various teams ? Organized and efficient, with strong prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage many projects concurrently ? Enjoy working in a dynamic and efficient team and can shift in a new direction easily and quickly in a fast growing entrepreneurial company ? Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), G-Suite, as well as web-based communication methods and tools such as MailChimp and SurveyMonkey. ? Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver) a plus ? Writing, Editing And Proofreading Skills Required ? Knowledge of current trends and best practices in information technology and their applications to communication strategies, including through web, email and social media. ? Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently with a high degree of initiative and collaboratively as part of a team ? Ability to work effectively with management, team members, outside vendors and collaborators ? Ability to manage and prioritize communications needs, perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, think strategically, and meet deadlines in a timely manner while maintaining professionalism and product quality ?
