Five Smartphone Apps for Your Job Search

Posted by

For managing your life and your job search, there isn't any tool as powerful as having a smartphone. Whether you decide to get an iPhone or try out one of the many Android phones available, there are plenty of mobile apps that can help you find the job you really want.

According to Jason Stevens, the Mobile Application Manager at Nexxt, the use of mobile apps is on the rise. From smartphones to tablets, more and more people are using their mobile devices to find information and connect with others. As a result, it's important to have the best apps for your job search.

Here are five must-have apps for job seekers:

Nexxt – Nexxt has a great selection of apps that can help you find the right job for you. The Beyond app is one of the most frequently downloaded apps for job seekers and they even have apps for their niche job boards, like Phillyjobs, TechCareers and many, many more. The apps are available for download and there are versions for both Apple and Android.

Twitter – When you're looking for a job, it's important to keep in contact with your social network. Twitter has many uses and can even help you get job leads. With the Twitter app, you can see new tweets from people you follow in real time and can post updates on the go.

LinkedIn – LinkedIn provides the best way to network with other professionals and build your career portfolio online. When you're looking for a job, being present on LinkedIn is a step in the right direction. Now, with the LinkedIn mobile app, you can network while you're on the go.

DropboxThe Dropbox mobile app is an amazing service that allows you to upload important files, like your resume, into a cloud drive. Then, by using the app, you can access the files in the drive whenever you want. It makes it easy to access your resume whenever you need it. You can instantly email copies to employers or even pull it up to look at when you're filling out an application.

Google Voice – Although Google has many great products, I think that Google Voice app is one of the lesser known, but most useful apps for job seekers. With the service, you can have a new phone number that either goes straight to your Google Voice account or can be forwarded to any phone you want. When you're posting resumes with contact information online, you may not want to give out your actual phone number. With a Google Voice number, if you miss a call, callers can leave a voicemail that will be transcribed and the text, along with an audio file of the message, will be sent to your phone. In addition, with the app, you can change where the number forwards to and see a record of all calls and text messages.
