3 Factors for Personal and Professional Success

Posted by

There are many factors that can contribute to your personal and professional success in life. I would like to share with you three of them that may have the biggest impact on your customer service career. Whether you are looking for a customer service job, already have one and would like to move up, these strategies can work for you. Far too often, people forget about the little things that add to one’s likelihood of success. However, by using these three strategies, you can give yourself a distinct advantage.

The first factor that can have an impact on your success is to “Get there early.” What I mean by this is, don’t get there right on time or late, instead, get there a few minutes early. This gives you several advantages if you are going to be interviewing for a manufacturing position. By being there early, it communicates you are responsible, and that you can be relied on to get the job done. Being early is an indicator that you take into account the little snafus that can occur, and you compensate for them by budgeting your time. It will allow you to prepare yourself and not feel rushed.

The next factor that can make a difference in how much success you have is to, “Deliver more than you promise.” Most people would be pleasantly surprised by someone who does more than is expected. When you take this approach with the work that you do, you put yourself in a separate class. You see, most people are trying to do the least amount possible. They try to get the task done by taking short cuts. In the end they really only cheat themselves. Their efforts will pale in comparison to you, the person who goes the extra mile and delivers more than you promise.

The final factor that can add to your personal and professional success is to, “Treat the other person like royalty.” William James, the father of modern day psychology, said: “The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.” John Dewey said: “that the desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature.” Everyone likes to feel important. When you treat others with reverence and courtesy, it helps them to feel more important.

It is a interesting thing about people. When they are treated with respect, they generally return the treatment to the person giving it to them. So, in summary, by consistently using the three factors of success in your personal and professional life, you will become more successful.
