" The art of nursing is based on a framework of caring and respect for human dignity" (ANA, 2004) The Wound Care Management Coordinator provides ongoing education to both Hospital Licensed Staff and Physicians, regarding issues of Skin and Wound Care, Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Ostomy Care. As the team leader of the Wound Care Performance Improvement Team, the Wound Care Management Coordinator oversees Wound Rounds and the Wound Care Council, and communicates regarding skin and wound issues to various nursing, hospital and corporate committees. The Wound Care Management Coordinator serves as a Clinical Educator and as such will follow the recommendations of the National Nurses in Staff Development Organization scope of practice as a framework for providing education and training. The Wound Care Management Coordinator is responsible for supervising, delegating, developing, implementing and directing educational activities for personnel in collaboration with department directors, managers and preceptors in the area of Skin and Wound Care, Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Ostomy Care in accordance with hospital policy and State and Federal regulations. Qualifications & Requirements Ability to adapt to a rapid change in both internal and external environments Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) Ability to handle stressful situations and respond appropriately Ability to interpret and develop policies and procedures, make generalizations, evaluations or decisions based on sensory, judgmental, measurable or verifiable criteria. Ability to lead self and others Ability to organize and prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines Ability to work independently and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, rapidly changing environment Current California RN license Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize the following equipment / software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Demonstrated ability to make decisions, take actions and/or makes commitments, after considering the available courses of action and the needs and values of others Demonstrated ability to tackle problems and take independent action Demonstrates flexibility; is willing to attempt new ways to solve problems and maximizes performance and opportunity in a constantly changing work environment Exhibits knowledge of adult principles of learning Experience developing and presenting educational offerings to health care providers (preferred) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred) Knowledge of management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize job responsibilities Minimum of one year experience specific to skin, wound and ostomy care (preferred) Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing and other job-related applications Works well with others in a team-oriented environment, including support of other co-workers' job duties in a manner that further advances the goals and objectives of the whole organization Wound Ostomy Certified Nurse or Enterostomal Therapy National Certification (required)
