VP Product Management - Social Media

Our client is a global leader in the social media and ecommerce space offering a web-based platform for creation, discovery, and promotion of branded and user-generated content to the consumer marketplace.

 

Due to new initiatives and product offerings, they are looking for a talented Vice President of Product Management. In this role, the VP of Product Management who will be responsible for leading their product management team and will report directly to the CEO. Their site is heavily involved in entertainment and media content, so background in those areas would be ideal.

 

This person will be responsible for the vision, direction and execution of their core products, design, data, SEO and Support teams. You will optimize their business strategy, financial goals, sales opportunities and technological capabilities by performing the following duties:

 

  1. Leading and mentoring the Product Management, Design, Data Quality, Data Retrieval, SEO and Support teams
  2. Defining product vision and strategy and identify market opportunities
  3. Contributing to the company-wide strategic direction and translating the direction into tangible product, design and data objectives
  4. Writing specifications, prioritizing new features, building consensus and coordinating product schedules with a team of world-class engineers
  5. Bringing a unique eye for detail for user experience and design to ensure that features will drive high adoption and customer delight
  6. Defining methods for quantifying success; ensuring that the team has a clear ability to understand and articulate objectives
  7. Constructing a business case for potential roadmap items to inform prioritization decisions
  8. Facilitating communication throughout the development process between a variety of internal teams including marketing, sales, customer support, executive and others
  9. Integrating usability studies, and research and market analysis into product requirements to make sure that products thrill and satisfy customers needs
  10. Engaging closely with the engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods as well as a reasonable execution schedule

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

  • Minimum of 10 years related experience in Product management and product marketing in forward thinking B2C organizations with a focus on customer acquisition, engagement and retention; Consumer web experience highly preferred
  • Significant experience managing a product roadmap, building a team, defining user experience, and leading innovation to improve the consumers’ experience
  • Demonstrated ability to engage various stakeholders to move ideas forward and get buy-in
  • Leadership qualities that fit within a fast-paced and always innovating and changing environment
  • BS/BA degree required.
  • Planning, problem solving and organization skills with a demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable recommendations
  • Web analytics experience with a leading analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Omniture, Coremetrics and Web Trends
  • Experience using social media and alternative marketing methods to acquire, retain and communicate with existing and new customers
  • Experience developing a personalized web experience to drive higher conversion and customer retention
  • Writing skills with a proven track record of writing customer-facing content that is on-brand, relevant and tailored to the internet shopper
  • Knowledge of internet trends and concepts, including search engines, Web 2.0 and social media
  • Ability to lead and influence both projects and teams
  • Ability to stay flexible and agile in fast-paced work environment
  • Experience in the entertainment industry a plus.
