Videoscape System Product Manager

Job Description:

System Product Manager to participate in the planning and definition of Videoscape IP video systems application, client/CPE, control and network functional and technical requirements and to oversee and drive execution of implementation of those requirements throughout the product lifecycle

Key Activities and Deliverables:
- Understand and communicate user and business needs, translate market and Cable and Telco service provider customer requirements into clear system, interface and product requirements
- Conduct competitive feature, price/cost and margin analysis
- Lead in the identification and understanding of video and supporting network and management products and technologies
- Support Cisco's SP video strategic planning, including identifying new video market opportunities and technologies, analyzing them and proposing action
- Work cross-functionally within Cisco and with customers, interacting with field sales, integration services, product managers, program managers, development engineering within and across business units
- Work with architecture and development engineering teams to prioritize and deliver new capabilities with a focus on cohesive system functionality, timeliness and high quality
- Create or review Videoscape systems customer presentations and sales training materials
- Create marketing collateral, including White Papers, conference papers/presentations and solution marketing materials
- Communicate regularly with key customers to manage expectations regarding solution architecture and associated deliverables
- Work with customer engineering teams to understand and explain details of the solution, down to the protocol level as required
- Present Videoscape systems roadmaps and supporting topics to SP customers
- Management reporting and communications to other teams and organizations within Cisco
- Project management of all the above
- Be available for business travel for customer meetings or to Cisco SPVTG development centers/labs

Position Qualifications:
- Successful track record directing high intensity systems planning activities developing and supporting complex solutions
- Prior experience defining requirements for service provider markets and understand the expectations of major service provider customers globally
- 8+ years experience in product management
- 5+ years experience with service provider / consumer MPEG and IP video technologies, network management technologies and Internet software applications, including:
o MPEG-2, MP4, H.264 and HTTP Adaptive Bit-rate video encoding and streaming technologies
o Service Provider video and IPTV technologies (QAM-based delivery, broadcast/multicast, video over DOCSIS, ADSL, etc.)
o IP Networking Protocols, including RTP, RTSP, XMPP
o Web Services based Application Frameworks
o Content Delivery Networks
o Home Networking technologies, including MOCA, UPnP, DLNA
o Cross Platform Presentation Technologies (Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, OCAP/EBIF, W3C Browsers, Android, etc.)
- Able to synthesize complex technical and market issues, develop insight into and solutions for those challenges and gain acceptance and commitment from others
- Have the necessary technical skills to communicate the details of complex video solution requirements
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills, superior interpersonal skills
- Ability to build relationships at all levels with sales/marketing/engineering staff, distributors and resellers and customers
- Self-motivated and flexible for a fast paced, ever-changing, deadline-driven environment
- Acts under own initiative and works under general or limited supervision
- Ability to guide others to solve complex problems involving multiple systems
- Must be able to work well with others as a team player within the business unit and within the overall Cisco organization
- Bachelor's degree in EE, Computer Science, Marketing or equivalent
