Sr. Manager, Training & Development (Sports Marketing/Retail)The Senior Manager of Training & Development is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive learning strategy and vision for the organization. This learning strategy will ensure the building of individual and organizational capabilities in support of Company's strategic plan and related business objectives. This position provides leadership development and organizational readiness expertise to HR business partners and our leaders as well as developing and implementing learning solutions that drive results.
Leading the Way:
Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results. Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote our key messages. Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results. Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements. Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions. Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews. Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results. Establishes and maintains visibility within the department. Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with functional counterparts within all client groups to develop training and leadership development solutions for immediate and long-term needs. This includes performing needs analyses, instructional design, and content development, training delivery method selection, implementation, change management and program evaluation. Provides leadership development initiatives and effective performance consulting for both departmental and high-level, complex enterprise-wide projects and initiatives. This will be accomplished through strategic vision and goal development, needs assessment and diagnosis, role and responsibility clarification, leadership and team development, coaching, and design and implementation of process and performance interventions. The role will also include development and management of career development, training, mentoring, change management and job rotation and or growth programs. Ensures the development and implementation of organization-wide strategies, prioritizes efforts and resources toward development and education activities that are critical to our mission, vision, culture, values, and strategic priorities. Assess team issues, facilitate team building and conflict resolution sessions, as needed; coach leaders in one-on-one sessions on 360 degree feedback, integrate new ideas into existing structures and bring innovation, organization, and strategic thinking to emerging processes and to solving systems problems or initiating new programs - both for our company and within HR; support HR initiatives & provide input into policy development & communication processes. Provide expert consulting support for all learning and development needs across the organization. Source, evaluate, select, and manage training subject matter experts, vendors and others to provide expertise and resources in a cost effective, timely and high quality fashion.
Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in the areas of training and leadership development including curriculum development and change management. Experience in managing and developing managers with specific emphasis on building leadership capabilities and high performance teams. BA in a related field required, MA preferred. Professional development and performance consulting - Collaboration with internal stakeholders to advise, develop and implement training / development strategies and solutions designed to enhance the skills of our employees. Learning systems and process knowledge. Knowledge of multiple learning interventions and systems that can be used as solutions when addressing performance and learning needs relative to business goals. Deep knowledge of adult learning methodologies as well as Learning Management Systems and e-learning innovations relative to soft skills and technical skills. Specifically, must understand blended learning methods and effective web-based training processes. Program and project management - Experience leading large complex training programs or curriculum projects that are of high visibility and high impact across the co-op. Ability to develop and execute on program requirements and project plans to ensure implementation on-time and within budget. Influence/Change Management. Ability to influence business partners and senior leadership in the implementation of major learning initiatives as demonstrated by advanced communications skills (both written and verbal). Demonstrated track record of implementing people, process and technology changes with impact and high levels of employee engagement. Proven and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals across a broad range of people and groups. Proficiency developing and managing budgets and forecasts for specific programs and/or department. Must have proven expertise in facilitating formal classes, managing meetings, and group processes to ensure that the objectives of the group are achieved. Capable of conducting needs analysis and designing interventions to address those needs. Must be able to prioritize projects in order to deliver programs that align and help drive Company goals. Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities. Analysis skill: Obtaining, synthesizing, and reporting data, both narrative and quantitative.
