Sr Manager, Amazon Publishing Marketing
Amazon Publishing is the publishing arm of Amazon and encompasses the imprints AmazonEncore, AmazonCrossing, Powered by Amazon, Montlake Romance, Thomas & Mercer, 47North and the New York City imprint.
Amazon Publishing is looking for a savvy marketing professional to work closely with our content acquisitions team to create, manage and execute global marketing strategies for books from our Seattle-based imprints. Responsibilities will include on-site merchandising, external marketing generation as well as offering direct guidance to authors about how they can help sell more books. This is a multi-faceted job in a start-up environment. Flexibility, a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor are a must.
Core Job Responsibilities
Conceive, create and execute innovative marketing programs to help Amazon Publishing books find readers.
Create marketing collateral including online, print and video media; manage internal & external agencies and creative partners.
Use data to measure performance of programs and drive innovation.
Partner with groups within Amazon to develop and leverage marketing programs and identify new opportunities that align to team and cross-company goals.
Educate authors of varying experience levels on the best way to take an active role in marketing their books, both on and off Amazon.
Basic Qualifications:
BA/BS required
7 or more years experience in merchandising, marketing or publicity experience in a related industry (publishing, or other content-related businesses).
5 or more years experience leading a team of direct reports
Ability to aggressively create innovative new consumer marketing programs that generate results, and the ability to objectively measure those results.
High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
Superior analytical skills and the ability to use data to measure results
Experience working with MS Excel required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience marketing genre fiction a plus.
Contacts within the author, agent or publicity industry a plus.
Passion for books, and a great appetite for reading.
