Search Engine Operations Manager

General Purpose: 
Support the Web Marketing Groups goal of driving cost effective, new customer acquisitions and incremental revenue for Paychex products and services through paid search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), affiliate marketing, and lead aggregation programs.  Work closely with Web Marketing management to strategize, research, develop, and implement pay-per-click (PPC), SEO, affiliate, and pay-per-lead (PPL) initiatives that deliver against Paychex business objectives.

 
Specific Responsibilities:

  • Meets search marketing revenue targets by increasing lead volume with significant impact on the companys revenue.
  • Analyzes performance data to develop campaign performance optimization recommendations.
  • Strategizes and manages performance of paid search campaigns on a daily basis; collaborates with Web Marketing and Search partners to reach target metrics and monthly goals.
  • Tests and implements campaigns to actively analyze keywords, advertising copy, landing pages, and positioning to increase ROI and drive volume.
  • Manages search budgets for multiple campaigns to ensure overall budgets are adhered to.
  • Researches and presents new developments and opportunities in the SEM domain to incorporate into ongoing campaign optimization.
  • Gathers industry research, competitive landscape information, and trade intelligence for SEM strategy development and optimization.
  • Manages multiple relationships with search engine vendors (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) and pay-per-lead aggregators to ensure ongoing support and value.
  • Drives affiliate programs and day-to-day affiliate operations while executing against plan to reach goals.
  • Manages relationships with 3rd party Pay-per-Lead aggregators to maximize ROI, lead volume, and revenue.
  • Collaborates with Paychex Web Marketing team to maximize paid and organic search marketing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Utilizes SEO performance analytics tools to optimize Paychex websites and improve SEO rankings, lead submissions and revenue.
  • Drives conversion using Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) best practices along with 3rd party optimization tools & resources.
  • Leverages SEM, SEO and affiliate optimization tools such as, but not limited to, Marin, Mongoose, Bright Edge and Google Webmaster Tools, in conjunction with industry best practices, to ensure Paychex realizes maximum ROI from its search initiatives.
  • Utilizes 3rd party Conversion Optimization tools such as, but not limited to, Google Website Optimizer, Live Ball, Site Spect and Test & Target to continually improve the conversion rate of all channels and submission processes.
  • Prepares the capital and operating budgets for the cost center(s) and analyzes interdepartmental reports as they relate to the cost center(s).  Achieves cost center projections through labor expense and administrative expense controls.
  • Recruits, selects, hires and evaluates performance of personnel to ensure all department needs are handled appropriately. Counsels and develops staff for personal and corporate advancement through career development, training programs and other resources as required for professional advancement.

Requirements:  Minimum of 6 years of paid search engine marketing experience required.  Bachelors degree preferred. Consideration may be given to a candidate with a degree in lieu of experience. Familiarity with current search strategies required (including long-tail bidding, geo-targeting, display networks, etc.).  Knowledge of all major search engines, their products, analytical tools and strategies required.  Knowledge of best in class pay-per-click practices required.  Knowledge of bid management software/applications required such as Marin Software, Kenshoo, Coremetrics, Acquisio, Click Equations.  Knowledge of proprietary analytics tools required such as Google Analytics, Yahoo Analytics, Webtrends and/or Omniture.  Knowledge of testing tools such as Google Website Optimizer, Optimizely, Omniture Test & Target, Live Ball, ...
