Public Relations Specialist
TeleNav is looking for a public relations manager with strong consumer and/or mobile tech experience to join its PR team as a lead for its consumer PR initiatives. This person will play a key role in developing and fostering relationships with consumer and tech media and generating mass market awareness of TeleNav’s mobile phone GPS applications. This is a unique opportunity for someone with creativity, energy and enthusiasm to join a growing Bay Area tech company, and make a direct impact on the company's marketing and PR initiatives.
The job is located at TeleNav’s HQ in Sunnyvale, CA and reports into the Associate Director of Public Relations.
Primary responsibilities:
Lead many consumer PR initiatives, helping to create strategy and tactics around product launches, seasonal campaigns and more
Develop and manage relationships with key consumer and mobile tech reporters/bloggers
Develop and lead creative and unique communications plans and campaigns for product launches as well as seasonally, in-between product launches
Support product launches and other news through press releases, media events, media relations, social media and other activities
Work collaboratively with marketing, product teams and executives to align PR strategy with business objectives and to support overall marketing plans
Manage some analyst relations with relevant industry analysts
Education Requirements:
BS/BA, in Public Relations, Communications or Marketing
Experience Requirements:
3 to 5 years of media relations experience with a focus on either consumer products and/or mobile technology (PR agency experience a plus)
Proven success with consumer media supporting product launches and other ongoing activity
Proven ability to think creatively with low news volume and set budget
Established relationships with top tier bloggers and/or reporters (references will be requested)
Solid understanding of social media channels and tactics
Proven ability to work with senior level executives and product marketing and development teams
Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks while working under strict timelines and budgetary parameters
