The Public Relations Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the companies integrated Public Relations strategy, which supports the Customer Experience by focusing on positioning the company as the leader with customers who buy and sell our products, influencers and end users. The strategy and successful execution will result in greater brand awareness across audiences, translating to increased demand for our clients/solutions. This includes leveraging internal and external customers and business information to make informed decisions toward all aspects of the public relations experience, which includes traditional and new media channels.
The position reports to the Leader, Corporate and Trade Channel Marketing. This position will also maintain key relationships with business partners in Marketing, business leadership, field sales and agency partners.
Job Responsibilities:
a) Knowing the Customer
Through the knowledge of our customers, and media channels, the Public Relations Manager will drive the development and implementation of a the divisions integrated public relations plan through collaborative interactions with the businesses and agency partners. Elements of the plan include: ongoing media relations, all elements of strategic messaging/positioning for tradeshows/events and public relations support for the division initiatives.
b) Leveraging Best in Class Public Relations practices
The Public Relations Manager will possess strong strategic planning and collaboration skills with the ability to create a comprehensive public relations strategy. A strong foundation in public relations, with working knowledge of new media channels including social media, blogs, and additional digital/non-digital technologies is critical. The PR Manager will lead relationships with the right partners to create and drive actionable results. Develop and oversee strategic messaging while ensuring brand consistency and maximizing investments. Will also help coordinate social media activities across the divisuib through integration of a Public Relations strategy.
c) Developing and Leading Interactive Vendor Relationships
The Public Relations Manager will lead the relationship with PR agency partners on day-to-day environment in a manner that creates an environment of continuous improvement with Customer Experience as the driving force. Effective and measurable results of all media channels are part of the core competencies.
Metrics: Position will be measured on ROI on media outreach and placement, successful plans that contribute to key strategic business initiatives, budget management and efficiencies, and contribution to brand performance.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or related field (strong writing skills a must)
- Minimum 7 years in public relations/journalism environment (a combination of corporate and agency experience preferred)
- Successful experience working in a complex matrix environment
- Experience in B2B and B2C
- Budget management experience
- 25-30% travel
- Proficiencies in traditional and new media channels.
