Large Corporation located in Westchester NY has the following needs:

Public Relations Manager

MUST have experience in telecom industry.

A media relations specialist who uses his/her strategic and creative capabilities to execute and deliver on company PR/media initiatives. This key role is focused on creating, managing and distributing messaging around the value proposition and positioning of AboveNet products and services including fiber optic, WDM, Ethernet, Long Haul and IP products.

In this role, the employee will develop, execute and evaluates strategic public/media relations and communications plans that are aligned with AboveNet's mission, vision and values. Employee will be responsible for all public relations activities and some special events coordination with a focus on new product and services launches and local market launches. The Public Relations Manager is a key company spokesperson handling media inquiries on a wide range of topics including coordination of Investor Relations matters.

Working with the various organizations, the development of Press Releases associated with Customer Wins, Technology or Product milestones or launches etc. this position will be required to work with our Product, Marketing, Sales, Legal and Finance organizations to insure the technical information, financials and all other materials/information is presented appropriately.

This position reports to the CEO, and will work closely with Senior Management to develop the "company Message / Brand" story and insure it is consistently delivered in all of company's external communications. Will perform other duties as requested by Management.

Responsibilities:

-Press Release development and management: responsible for timely writing and production of press releases that are in line with Company vision, mission and values.

-Product visibility: developing product presentations that are conducive to being delivered at conferences and forums where applicability to a topic or theme may need to be considered. A successful candidate may also deliver such presentations. This also includes coordinating and managing company participation in product competitions held by various industry organizations and interfacing with market analysts that produce industry market share/ rankings based on product-specific measures (e.g. number of Ethernet port in use, etc). This person will also collaborate with Product Development and Business Development to issue product and technology press releases.

-Product launches: this person will be part of the team in developing new products and will be responsible, in conjunction with Product Development, for the communications aspect of a new product launch including sales communications & training as well as the creation & distribution of product collateral.

Requirements:

MUST have experience in telecom industry.

-Bachelor's Degree desired;

-5-7+ years experience in Public Relations;

-2+ years experience with a telecommunications company;

-This is an individual contributor role with supervisory approval;

-Technology and market understanding of Optical/WDM, Ethernet & IP with the ability to elicit respect and credibility;

-Strong preference for telecom service provider background;

-Very strong written and verbal communications skills required--public speaking experience required;

-Travel at minimum of 25%;

-Proven track record of developing and pitching compelling stories to print and broadcast media with strong placement track record. Experience writing for publication. May work with outside PR firm on occasion and will be responsible for managing the relationship and deliverables;

-Experienced writer comfortable writing on deadline. Successful candidate will have written extensively and have a variety of products to demonstrate their proficiency ranging from news releases to newsletters to fact sheets synthesizing complicated issues. Demonstrated experience of delivering outstanding written product across multiple media, including Web and social media platforms;

-Serves as a strategic communications counselor, often to senior management on complex corporate issues, challenges and opportunities;

-Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and to function in a face paced environment while meeting aggressive deadlines;

-Have an excellent grasp of new and emerging communications practices and approaches and find unique and distinctive ways to promote the company.

-Be an exceptional media relations generalist who is strategic and creative with an ability to execute and deliver;

-Have flexibility to act as an individual contributor as well as to lead, motivate and manage direct reports or contractors;

-Comfort building partnerships and establishing/maintaining trust quickly with internal and external customers/stakeholders including executives and reporters as well as the proven ability to work effectively with sales, customer service, vendors, and partner organizations;

-Be organized, detail oriented, and focused on execution;

-Have outstanding communications skills both verbal and written;

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Power Point, Word, and Excel).
