Project Manager II - Pro Bono / New Perimeter
DLA Piper, a leader in the practice of law and provision of pro bono services worldwide, seeks an organized, detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, writing, and communications skills to support complex projects and initiatives with firm wide impact. The candidate will be working with New Perimeter () and the US pro bono department (). The ideal candidate will have strong time management and negotiation skills as well as the demonstrated ability to multi-task well in a fast paced environment. Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required to create effective presentations, in addition to ability to work within HTML sites. A minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years experience in a Project Manager role supporting large projects and initiatives is required. BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Marketing, is also required. (Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement). Experience managing and/or directing a public interest nonprofit organization is preferred. A passion for public interest law and policy, as well as helping the indigent and powerless in society, is a plus.
Key responsibilities may include:
Provides technical expertise in developing marketing plans and strategies, drafting complex reports and summaries, creating and maintaining spreadsheets and analysis, and preparing presentations.
Writes a variety of materials on behalf of assigned areas to include key messages, internal communication, strategy documents, website copy, work plans, and executive level updates; works collaboratively with marketing staff as needed.
Manages the pro bono and New Perimeter websites; works closely with IT to update on a regular basis; updates and manages the pro bono and New Perimeter blogs and use of video.
Functions as project lead responsible for timely and effective implementation of strategic plans and objectives.
Plans firm wide office meetings, seminars, and award events; researches locations, meets with vendors and reviews contracts to ensure planned activities meet the objectives of the event; prepares and coordinates all event logistics to ensure a successful meeting and/or conference.
Connects with pro bono clients and potential pro bono clients on a regular basis regarding potential business development opportunities; leads discussion on complex topics and identifies resources necessary to bring new business opportunities to completion.
Manages department and/or office budget on a regular basis; tracks and analyzes data; creates reports and presents findings to management; works with accounting to implement budget changes, develop additional analyses and meet annual budget expectations.
Conceptualizes, manages, and delivers a wide range of simultaneous deliverables; manages resource planning, timeline management, budgeting, production, and distribution.
Works collaboratively with the Director of New Perimeter and US Pro Bono Partner, and Senior Pro Bono Counsel to establish short- and long-term projects and initiatives; assists in developing the strategic direction for assigned department or office.
Provides regular direction and leadership to staff on projects and assignments; provides performance feedback as necessary.
Conducts research on potential pro bono and New Perimeter partners, including nonprofit organizations, corporations, and academic institutions.
