VDI Marketing Manager -Server and Cloud Platform Marketing Group The Virtual Desktop infrastructure (VDI) is fast becoming one of the most sought after virtualization technologies of businesses - from global enterprises all the way to small businesses - VDI is a compelling virtualization solution that enable organizations to run their desktops on back-end servers and deliver the desktop experience to a wide range of devices across the intranet and extranet. Microsoft commands a unique position in the market place touching millions of customers and partners and being the centerpiece of this emerging technological and advancing its success. As VDI finds itself at the intersection of customer interest and a strategic competitive battleground, it will be the center of a critical part of Microsoft's strategy to enable cost-effective client/server infrastructures to our customers. There is a substantial opportunity to accelerate our revenue and our share in the market place - particularly revenue in the enterprise space and share in the mid-market.
The Server and Cloud Platform Marketing Team is looking for an exceptional leader and cross-group collaborator with strong business skills to partner with our selling and technical communities (ATS, SSP), Segments (EPG primarily), Core-IO, Partner teams, cross-STB teams (Mainly System Center, Forefront, and Client) on driving the current sales and business metrics worldwide. Your objective would be to help land our new Win the Desktop' strategy into real numbers cross the world by working closely with our field organization and local leadership.
Specific Responsibilities include: 1. Selling VDI into every account: As part of our Windows 7 refresh and Optimized Desktop story there are many options for desktop virtualization. As IT managers evaluate their desktop management stories VDI will be a scenario that most organizations will look to. Although not every desktop is a candidate for VDI, we need to work with our client and server selling teams to ensure that when VDI is an option we offer a complete solution. Within this this context your will be aligning our internal and external web properties, orchestrating launch efforts around VDi specific technologies, provide compete positioning, evidence, core content and competitive response. Additionally you will be responsible the rhythm of the business around VDI and the correction of errors process. 2. Aligning with our partners: Our partners our one of our biggest assets when delivering solutions like VDI in his rapidly growing market by taking our existing solution and making it a more complete and scalable solution. Within this role you will work with partners like Quest, Citrix, HP, and Dell to develop joint value propositions, offers, customer awareness and training to ensure the success of VDI against our competitors. 3. Building Community: Our sellers and technical specialists in the field are compensated and carry metrics on VDI. We need to build a relationship with these communities so they are well educated on when VDI is a scenario and what the partnering, licensing, and offers and incentives available to the customer are. Specific responsibilities will include field pre-sales support, field readiness, field escalation support, segment engagement and alignment, and BIF/POC request and management.
Success Criteria: The ideal candidate is highly entrepreneurial, energetic and self-motivated with the following skills: Excellent strategic thinking ability and strong communication skills. The candidate will be autonomous, results-driven, and a demonstrated ability to influence cross group agendas (including at an executive level) and drive non-reporting teams to perform. Knowledge and experience of the Microsoft core infrastructure technologies and solutions including Windows client, Windows Server, System Center, Forefront, and MDOP. Field sales experience within Microsoft is a plus.
Qualifications: You should have 5+ years of experience in product sales / or product marketing. You must be willing to take on a big challenge with significant growth potential. Most importantly, you need to be a strategic thinker able to identify opportunities and alternatives and influence a large team to execute on them. BS/BA required; MS / MBA a plus
