General Summary:
Top-tier, New York-based law firm is seeking an experienced Business / Practice Development Coordinator to join our New York office.  The Coordinator will support the Assistant Managers and the wider team to develop client proposals, execute practice group business plans, support the firm's practice groups and assist with strategic client initiatives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Business Development: 
The Coordinator, with guidance from the Assistant Managers, is responsible for supporting responses to requests for proposal as well as leading and managing other significant proposals and/or pitches for business.
* Prepares first draft proposals responsive to legal services RFP requirements and evaluation criteria tailored to prospective clients' cultures and preferences;
* Helps produce proposal executive summaries detailing the firm's capabilities;
* Coordinates logistics associated with proposal production and delivery; and
* Serves as an editor of proposals.
Marketing: 
Support Practice Group and Attorney Marketing Activities:
* Supports the Practice Development Team with development and analysis of marketing activities;
* Assists specific practice groups in executing business plans and individual attorney plans; and
* Helps partners with activities related to client relations or firm promotion such as media relations, development of client seminar series and other business development tasks as identified.
Marketing Literature, Proposals and Client Presentations:
* Updates practice descriptions and lawyer biographies;
* Helps draft and produce firmwide practice profiles, brochures and specialized projects;
* Helps execute and analyze research on target clients;
* Works with the Knowledge Management and Research teams to support matter description and various databases for firm use;
* Drafts and compiles appropriate written and visual presentation materials and;
* Documents developments after presentations.
Market Research:
* Analyzes market research performed by the Research Team;
* Conducts additional marketing research (through database searches, networking, interviews, etc.); and
* Develops comprehensive prospect fact sheets.
Client Relations: 
* Provides support to Assistant Managers on business development initiatives for identified strategic clients; and
* Uses firm resources to assist in providing industry trends and client news to internal groups.
 
Required Skills

* Bachelor's degree and at least three years of business experience.  Law firm / professional services and marketing or sales experience are preferable;
* Detail-oriented and interested in results-consistently meets deadlines and finishes projects;
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbally and in writing;
* Strong team player who also works well individually;
* Understands the pressures of working in a law firm and demonstrates potential for working well with attorneys who have a wide range of personalities, communication styles, business development goals and marketing and sales skills;
* Exhibits high energy and genuine enthusiasm for the subject of law firm marketing activities and goals;
* Has a healthy competitive spirit (i.e., likes to win);
* Is well organized - able to juggle several projects at once, manages stress well and does not become easily overwhelmed;
* Understands the needs and expectations of corporate law firm clients;
* Has a broad understanding of the field of professional services marketing;
* Facile with technology tools and able to master new applications quickly. Proficiency required with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as these tools are often employed for proposal responses.
