and transportation concerns. * Responsible for troubleshooting, process improvement, quality management
of product packaging, promotional packaging variations and displays. * Develop new packages or improve existing packages for Belkin products. * Work closely with product management, packaging vendors, manufacturing
and supply chain to ensure packaging programs reach completion on time and
on budget. * Ensure that the graphic designers in the branding team have accurate
templates to work on by supplying engineered die lines. * Co-ordinate creation of prototype package designs for verification,
trade shows and sales samples. * Conduct design evaluations of prototype samples for form, fit, function,
structural integrity, cost efficiency, theft deterrence and ease of end user
access to the products. * Responsible for evaluating and approving first article samples prior to
production in addition to giving direction on all intermediate revisions. * Ensure packaging suppliers have all necessary artwork, package CAD data,
material information and a prototype 3D sample for reference to ensure
effective design transfer to manufacturing. * Package shape and size optimization based on retail partner shelf space
constraints and efficient pallet pattern analysis. * Serve as a technical resource, leading in the qualification of packaging
suppliers, substrates, and printed / non-printed materials domestically or
internationally. * Stay current on environmentally friendly materials, plastic package mold
design and thermoforming, packaging innovations, closure technology, global
packaging issues, consumer trends and requirements, laws and regulations
affecting packaging, processes for modifying plastic films, costs and
economics of packaging, labeling, recycling, packaging and environmental
tradeoffs, packaging handling and transportation.
Education and Experience Requirements: * An Ideal candidate would have a minimum of 7 years packaging experience
in the consumer electronics industry with a BS in packaging or manufacturing
engineering with a minor in packaging. * At least 5 years of supervisory or technical leadership experience. * At least 3 years experience with 3D CAD. ProEngineer/ProSurface
experience preferred. Solidworks experience considered. * Have an in-depth understanding of the marketing function and the
retail-shopping environment. * Possess a broad knowledge of packaging materials (including but not
limited to paper, chip board, corrugated, plastic, foam) and structures for
consumer products. * Strong knowledge of and extensive working experience with package
manufacturing processes, packaging machinery and rapid prototyping of
