Nurse - Registered (RN) - NURSE: LDRP

The Labor and Delivery RN starts IV and administers fluids and/or medications per physician order according to facility policy, procedures, and protocols. Performs on-going assessment of cervical dilatations, effacement, and fetal positioning and monitor readings during labor according to facility policy, procedures, and protocols. Notifies supervisor of patient/child status continually throughout labor and delivery implements individualized patient/family teaching plan. Assists with pain management, patient positioning, and fetal delivery assists with compromised delivery according to physician orders and facility policy, procedures and protocols. Provides for postpartum care, including but not limited to bladder, episiotomy, fundus consistency, vaginal changes, and psychological status prepare mother and infant for breast-feeding. Provides for infant suctioning, documents patient and fetal status administer all medications according to scope of practice, physician orders, and facility policy procedure and protocols. Provides for appropriate patient/newborn identification provides for a safe patient/family environment.
