Nurse Practitioner, Surgical Oncology

The University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our busy and innovative team of Surgical Oncologists in caring for patients with GI malignancies, melanoma and sarcoma. We seek a motivated individual to participate in pre- and post-operative patient care and discharge planning for patients presenting for surgical treatment. Development of patient and family relationships is and important component of the treatment plan in this area. Participation in research protocols is required as we continue to lead the scientific exploration of new surgical techniques. This is a truly outstanding opportunity for an NP who is interested in cancer care. Clinical and educational collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is expected. Participation in resident education is also a part of this role. Continuing education in the subspecialty is encouraged and supported.


The successful candidate will have completed a Nurse Practitioner program, with acute care NP certification. Maryland licensure, or eligibility is also required. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, and have a minimum of two (2) years experience in an acute surgical setting.
