New Products Manager
The New Products Manager position reports to the VP of Innovation and Partnerships of AAA Northern California, Nevada, Utah (NCNU). The group is responsible for developing new lines of business that represent a substantial portion of future revenue. Examples of these new business ventures include Auto Repair, Commercial Insurance, Banking, Investment services, etc. The successful candidate will have a history of originating and executing viable business plans in complex operating domains with a focus on financial services. This is a key position with high internal and external visibility.
Job Responsibilities:
The New Products Manager is the champion of new projects for AAA NCNU. This person will identify, evaluate and rank projects, secure necessary internal resources, management approval and then drive selected investments to delivery. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background of excellence in business consultancy as well as practical business management. We seek a business leader with experience that stresses high competence in a majority of the role’s responsibilities including:
All facets of the new product design process--spanning strategy, design, development and complex product rollouts
Domain-specific product development experience in financial services--for example brokerage, commercial banking, credit union or commercial lines insurance
Ability to work well with internal support entities: staff business analysts, internal audit, project management, HR etc.
Experience with SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats) analysis
Ability to drive projects gated or approvable by external entities—for example government regulatory bodies or AAA’s national organization
Proven exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving, and solution design skills
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in related area (Marketing, business, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
7 – 9 years of general business experience and/or related professional level insurance, financial service or consumer product industry experience.
Expertise and demonstrable track record managing complex, multifunctional initiatives
Experienced and comfortable providing direction and securing deliverables via influence (as opposed to line management authority)
Familiarity with all phases of a business plan approval cycle
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Strong attention to detail
Preferred:
Full-cycle experience in startup or venture-funded entities.
