The Marketing Strategies Department, located in Pleasanton, California, has an opening for a Marketing Strategies Manager.



Position Purpose:



The Marketing Strategies Manager will conduct analytics for internal business teams around Marketing Strategies initiatives. This individual will also develop customer centric insights, assist in strategic direction, and partner in execution.



Qualifications:



* 4 year degree in Marketing, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent.

* Minimum 2 years managerial or supervisory experience in Marketing or Sales.

* Minimum 5 years retail merchandising and/or category management experience.

* Proven strategic management experience, transforming vision into actionable strategies.

* Excellent verbal and written presentation skills and the ability to communicate with Senior Management and internal departments, including but not limited to, Consumer Demand, Finance, Pricing and Schematic teams.

* Strong computer skills, highly proficient in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, relational databases and working knowledge of internal Safeway systems and syndicated data.

* Strong project management, leadership, interpersonal and negotiating skills.

* Detail oriented, with strong analytical, problem solving, and data manipulation skills.

* Working knowledge of Safeway category management processes and procedures.

* Excellent time management and organization skills. Ability to handle multiple assignments and manage competing priorities with tight deadlines.

* Results oriented with high degree of initiative.

* Team and customer service oriented with ability to maintain positive attitude.

* Ability to effectively cope with change and comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.



Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



* Utilize various data sources and statistical techniques to understand and evaluate customer behavior providing strategic actionable insights.

* Continually identify opportunities to improve Marketing Strategies processes to increase value within Safeway.

* Develop analyses and processes to support Safeway's customer centric strategy.

* Serve as project leader and conduct analytics for key category projects designed to improve our offering to customers.

* Partner with internal business groups such as Perishable and Non-Perishable category teams in setting and achieving goals through the utilization of Marketing Strategies tools and processes. Track, measure, and report progress.

* Develop presentations, communicate key processes, project results, methodology upgrades, and communicate project findings to management.

* Serve as a center of expertise on assortment, clustering, pricing, and or promotion.

* Evaluate business opportunities as they arise and create business solutions.
