Position Summary:
Conducts market research and customer discovery to evaluate attractiveness of new/existing applications within specified market segments.
Develop a network of industry experts to capture market requirements.
Develop thorough understanding of the market forces (legal, social and economic, environment, trends, competition, customer and end customer requirements, opinion leaders).
Work with marketing, sales and R&D to drive innovation and profitability in new product and services, along with extensions to existing offering
Manage market segment as a business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs market research & analysis: Responsible for market, customer and competitor research, including market surveys, compilation of data and preparation of various market and product sales reports. Ensures the rest of the organization is kept apprised.
Identify new product opportunities in the specified market segment that provide Business Unit with profitable growth.
Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers, industry events, etc
Identify potential acquisition targets; identify and understand the key applications in order to identify new opportunities where our products can be utilized in the current application as well as, new applications that are being developed.
Identify opportunities for a wider solution of all of products to the market segment.
Study the competition and identify their strengths, weaknesses, marketing strategies, selling strategies, etc.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional departments customers to include; sales, customer service, marketing, marketing communications, R&D, purchasing, and operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ten years of industry/business experience comprising marketing/sales, business development, and/or technical field,
Proven ability to lead, motivate & influence, communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels and functions of the organization
Proven strategic marketing capability – ability to analyze markets quickly, apply 80/20 thinking, identify key issues quickly and make solid recommendations
Proven ability to develop strategy, follow through to successful implementation and drive results
Proven track record of evaluating new markets, building and applying strategic planning methodology.
Strong customer focus and orientation
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced degree advantageous
Learning agility, creative critical thinker, analytical with a bias for action/execution
Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
