Marketing and Communications Specialist
Informed by the lived experience, MDAO serves Ontario communities through providing: awareness, education and training family and youth clinical support recovery programs peer support MDAO is seeking a dynamic, energetic, enthusiastic, outgoing, compassionate individual to oversee all aspects of our marketing, communications and public relations needs in Toronto and in communities throughout Ontario. Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Management Team in the development and implementation of external and internal communications strategies for MDAO that increase exposure of the organization's activities and achievements to community members and agencies, funding agencies, corporate sponsors, government, non-profit organizations, donors etc. Develop and mantain detailed databases of key media, community, government, and non-profit organizations contacts that can be used for targeted knowledge dissemination. Coordinate media relations, identify key opportunities to engage the media and build relations wtih key media representatives in order to increase coverage of MDAO's activities and successes. Assure that messaging in all publications and on MDAO websites is consistent with the organization's mission, values, and strategic directions. Support other MDAO staff in doing the same. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure proper messaging on MDAO's missing, activities and services. Identify opportunities to increase MDAO's public relations through exhibits at local and provincial events; manage related administrative details and represent MDAO at such events as required. Collaborate with all MDAO staff to plan and deliver high-end educational programs for multifaceted workplaces across Canada. Support the development of published materials including content development for brochures, flyers and annual reports. Support the fundraising initiatives of MDAO through branding, writing and effective communications materials. Develop presentation and visual materials that raise the profile of MDAO. Provide ongoing coordination and development of MDAO's website content, maintaining an up-to-date and engaging web resource for the community, clients, potential clients, potential donors, sponsors and partners. Ensure that MDAO develops and maintains an appropriate presence on social networking media. Create and distribute MDAO's quarterly electronic newsletter for community agencies and stakeholders. Develop and implement quarterly public forums on matters of interest to our community. Edit and format reports prepared by MDAO staff, including layout and copy-editing as requred. Perform all other duties as required. Qualifications: Post-Secondary education in the areas of Public Relations, Media Relations, Marketing or Communications with related work experience. Minimum 2 years experience working in Marketing and Communications in a leadership role. Keen understanding and experience with various media for communication including newer technologies (e.g. social networking). Strong knowledge of the community and key stakeholders in MDAO's work. Direct experience with project management, desktop publishing, powerpoint, media relations and communications/marketing plan development required. Excellent verbal and written English Communication Skills. Ability to work independently, identify and respond to needs in a timely and effective manner.
