JOB DESCRIPTION MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR Summary Statement: This is a part-time, term grant-funded position. Hours and salary are to be negotiated. As the Marketing Communications Coordinator, your primary role is being the custodian of the Centre's corporate identity and all external marketing communications activity. In fulfilling this role, you will help create marketing communications plans and implement communication activities, track and analyze their performance while ensuring that the overall strategic objectives of the Centre are met. Organizational Background: The St. James-Assiniboia 55+ Centre (the Centre) offers health, social, recreational, volunteer, educational and fitness opportunities for older adults. Our mission is â?oe To encourage seniors to improve their quality of life by providing educational, recreational, health and social opportunities. The Centre is a charitable organization which aims to offer programs and services at a nominal cost to members. Relationships: Reports to: The Executive Director Responsibilities/Duties: 1) Strategic Planning a. Assess marketing communications programs, report findings and recommend improvements. b. Provide expertise and share knowledge on creative direction. c. As a marketing communications expert, be involved with development of the Centre's corporate identity, strategic planning and execution. d. Research new programs and evaluate the success of current programs, making recommendations. 2) Planned Giving a. Research and develop a planned giving campaign. b. Create a promotional plan for the Centre's â?oeTree of Life. 3) Corporate Identity a. Develop a contest for the creation of a new logo for the Centre. b. Plan and develop packaging, brochures and manuals for the Centre incorporating the new logo and strategic direction. 4) Fundraising a. Research appropriate and successful fundraising activities and events for the Centre. b. Provide a timeline for fundraising activities. c. Recruit, oversee, and provide direction to a committee of volunteers for fundraising events, and coordinate an annual fundraising event. 5) Web Communications a. Update and maintain website content in cooperation with the Program staff. b. Brainstorm ideas for content updates. c. Script and create e-mail messages to members d. Develop and coordinate e-mail schedule. e. Analyze website and e-mail statistics to review effectiveness of current strategies and make recommendations for others. 6) Press Releases and Articles a. Draft press releases, media advisories, feature articles and other public relations materials as required. b. Coordinate press releases to publications in timely fashion. c. Email editors with articles, photos and captions. d. Build relationships with media to assure regular printing of organizational press releases. e. Manage maintenance of press release database by reviewing contacts, adding new media when applicable, adding notes as needed, and researching other venues. Requirements/Qualifications: Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in the areas of Marketing, Communications, Media. Professional public relations experience. Knowledge or understanding of marketing and communication strategies directed towards older adults. Experience in a consultative role. Experience with, or understanding of working in a non-profit environment. Excellent computer skills necessary. Clear and concise writing skills. Ability to analyze and present statistics.
