Auburn University () invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice President, Development Operations. The successful candidate will serve as the chief financial and human resource officer for the Universitys Development Office and will include responsibility for Donor Relations, Research & Records and Development Marketing & Communications organizations. The position will be responsible for all finances including the development and management of a $10 million+ budget; managing the day to day human resources, including benefits management for 100+ professionals and facilitating office space assignments, changes and improvements while following all university policies and procedures. The Associate Vice President, Development Operations will work very closely with the Foundation Board of Directors, the Auburn University Real Estate Foundation and Spirit Foundation. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President for Development and directly manage 15+ individuals within their organization and also be responsible for working with numerous other university departments including serving as liaison to the Accounting, Alumni and Development Supports Services and Information Management units to ensure credibility and success. This opportunity will be located in Auburn, Alabama. Auburn University is one of the nations premier land, sea, and space grant institutions. It is a high research activity institution offering Bachelor, First Professional, Master, Educational Specialist, and Doctorate degrees. As of Fall 2009, the university has 1,176 full-time faculty, 154 part-time faculty, and 24,602 students from all fifty states and approximately 100 countries, including 19,926 undergraduate students, 3,689 graduate students, and 987 first professional students. Minimum qualifications for this opportunity are a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field. One must possess a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial management experience directing fundraising programs and policies while working directly with Foundations and their Boards. Knowledge of Internal Revenue Service gift regulations, fundraising strategies and techniques and accounting principles and practices is required. A background in managing multiple direct reports with disparate areas of responsibility to include strong budgetary management, human resource and operations management and communications is necessary. The successful candidate must also possess the ability to work effectively with staff, administrators, board members, alumni and corporate entities. One should have proven skills as an administrator with experience recruiting, organizing, leading, managing, evaluating and mentoring staff while fostering professionalism and a commitment to strong institutional values and mission. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with superior organizational abilities, and a collaborative team oriented style within a complex foundation environment is a must.
