University of Maryland University College is seeking an IT Assistant Director of Administration and Finance to provide business and administrative support to Information Technology departments in the areas of procurement, resource planning, asset management, human resources, budgeting, and internal controls. This position will assist the Senior Director of Finance and Administration in compliance with UMS and UMUC policies regarding the business practices of IT. Specific responsibilities include:
? Interfacing with IT department heads and managers as well as other departments within UMUC particularly Finance, Human Resources, and Procurement
? Reconciling all investment account activity and preparing monthly reports for respective project owners and the Sr. Director and CIO
? Preparing and distributing the monthly telephone charges
? Assisting the Senior Director in preparing annual operating budget
? Monitoring monthly transactions, and preparing reports on IT budget activities
? Managing position management for IT; monitoring and tracking all IT recruitments and reporting on hiring metrics for recruitments
? Supervising Business Manager and IT inventory control
? Performing other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in business and three (3) years experience in finance, budget, or inventory related work is required. Safe driving record required. Ability to work independently, with minimal direct supervision, and apply policy and procedures correctly. Knowledge of accounting principles. Proficient in use of MS Office and ability to learn and develop expertise with other software that may be deployed in conjunction with work assignments. Knowledge of database software. Able to work in a fast paced environment with multiple and competing priorities. Ability to exercise sound judgment to achieve desired customer support levels and results. Must have team building skills. Ability to multi-task and to work collegially with peer level colleagues within the IT department as well as ability to work and communicate effectively with at all levels within the University community to develop priorities and to define new support solutions. Ability for problem solving and ability for critical thinking to identify trends/patterns; ability to develop non-traditional solutions; ability to foster these skills within team members; ability to develop strategies for service improvement. Ability to resolve conflicts internal to areas of responsibility and across all departments to develop creative solutions to problems and effectively resolve differences of opinion.
