Pratt & Whitney Power System (PWPS) Industrial Gas Turbines (IGT) Non-OEM New Parts Business is a diverse and dynamic organization providing global Engineering and Manufacturing Leadership, plus Supply Chain Management, in the areas of master scheduling, lean manufacturing, quality, continuous improvement, inventory and lead time management. The IGT New Parts Business is located in East Hartford, CT, and is responsible for all program requirements to Re-Engineer, Develop, Manufacture and deliver IGT turbine hardware to customer demand in the Non-OEM IGT market. The industrial gas turbine business is very transactional and allows for direct visibility to the industry and its customers.
Pratt & Whitney Power Systems' Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) Parts & Services Business is seeking an IGT Manufacturing Technical Leader, with Coating Process experience, whom reports to the IGT Parts & Services General Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Act as technical lead for IGT manufacturing, process development, and qualification efforts for new components and new launch programs. Own first time yield for existing special processes manufacturing performed on large frame IGT components in the supply chain. Process knowledge for IGT size castings, coatings, heat treat, ECM, EDM, and welding.
- Act as key conduit with Hot Section Engineering (HSE), Global Services Engineering (GSE), San Antonio IGT Repair Operations, and PWPS IGT Program Office.
- Investigation of new process technologies to facilitate first time yield (FTY) improvements, cycle time, and cost reductions.
- Support evaluation and disposition of non-conformances, by developing preliminary dispositions and recommending rework/repair alternatives.
- Lead process certification efforts in the supply chain to drive successful certification in all Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) proficiency Levels.
- Participate as a key member of the Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) - Team with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) to gather data to identify top yield drivers and lead teams to develop and execute plans for improvement.
- Provide technical input to new product launches for design collaboration and manufacturing process development, to a mature production process.
- Support IGT manufacturing, design, and module reviews as needed.
- Support SAP and EVMS activities for procurement and costs.
A successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of various manufacturing technologies, ideally hot section turbine coatings, with supply chain management responsibilities, be a motivated self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills.
Experience in utilizing ACE/Lean tools, and have excellent communication skills.
Working in-depth knowledge of SAP system.
