Global Corporate Category Manager - Marketing

Global Company is adding to the team due to growth as well as internal promotion. Looking for a professional looking for career path v. job. This is not the role of a buyer, it is a true strategic partner to internal customers.

 

The Category Manager position is responsible for:

  • Developing plans and strategies to drive breakthrough business improvements in assigned categories
  • Developing support, buy-in and participation from senior executive leadership
  • Leading cross-functional teams in strategic sourcing and management of all aspects of value obtained from assigned goods/services
  • Leading development and execution of supply strategies that meet or exceed internal client requirements and deliver breakthrough improvements in quality and total cost for assigned category/categories
  • Developing annual cost reduction plans, including spend projections for input to the budgeting process
  • Providing regular updates on progress and performance to leadership via the Procurement Council

 

 

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff, including work assignments, hiring, terminations, performance reviews, goals and objectives
  • Develop, implement and refine global supply strategies that result in enhanced value, breakthrough total cost reduction and continuous improvement for marketing services and print spend
  • Implement appropriate supplier management processes to drive selected suppliers within assigned categories towards world class performance, including serving focal point for the supplier relationship
  • Support value management/kaizen workshops with selected suppliers to drive down total cost of ownership
  • Lead cross-functional category management teams to enable strategic sourcing and supply management for assigned categories
  • Negotiate, draft, review and approve supply contracts for goods/services within assigned categories
  • Ensure compliance with contract review and approval procedures prior to execution
  • Develop, track and report on appropriate category performance metrics to capture performance and provide credible input to corporate budgeting process
  • Travel to various and supplier locations to evaluate different internal client requirements/issues, and supplier capabilities
  • Conduct value management or kaizen-style workshops

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business or related field
  • 4+ years procurement management experience, best practices to enhance value and reduce cost
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Experience with procurement of Marketing Services, Print, Fulfillment and other Indirect goods/svcs
  • Experience with marketing services/agencies
  • Experience with media buying and implementation of digital/social media
  • Worked with print  and fulfillment industries, including printer capabilities, and "print on demand" strategies
  • Experience with supplier management techniques and current best practices
  • Experience with satisfying customer requirements and responding to customer feedback
  • Experience with world class procurement practices, including supplier scorecards, value management workshops, Kaizen, etc.
  • Experience negotiating contracts with a value > $1,000,0000/year
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated Research skills and Negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated self-initiation, decision-making skills as well as communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build consensus across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to form synergy with business processes, systems and organizational objectives on a global level
  • Ability to work in collaborative and cross-functional groups to identify, design, and implement change
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information regarding Research and Development, Operations, Marketing and Sales and internal cost structures
  • Professional certification as a CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified) a plus
