We are opening a new facility for our two regional sports networks and we're currently seeking a freelance Broadcast Engineer. The freelance Engineers will manage all of the incoming and outgoing feeds to assure proper video and audio quality for our broadcasts. Will support studio and post-production needs including maintaining, repairing, and installing broadcast and editing equipment in our new downtown facility.
Responsibilities:
Ensures all PLN transmission equipment is calibrated and operating correctly before and during live event telecasts; conducts quality control of all incoming and outgoing PLN feeds, corrects and documents technical problems.
Consults our Engineering and our NE&O Regional Engineering staff regarding corrective actions unable to resolve alone.
Troubleshoots equipment where problems occur and performs regular preventive maintenance tasks including repairs, equipment replacement, supplies, etc.
Follows all of our company's and FCC standards and guidelines.
Provides engineering support to production staff and effectively communicates and interacts with production staffs daily to understand and fulfill their requests during shift.
Reports important facility issues to our Engineering, Director of Operations and our NE&O Regional Engineering management.
Other duties/projects as assigned by Engineering and Production managers.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years experience working in broadcast engineering and studio operations environment.
Must be knowledgeable in all areas of technical production and familiar with all production equipment.
Strong technical knowledge of all aspects of Live studio productions, computer based editing and graphic systems including networking and storage solutions.
Knowledgeable maintaining and troubleshoot Avid systems including Media Composers, ISIS storage, Interplay and archive LTO systems.
Strong analytical and reasoning skills are essential as well as technical troubleshooting skills.
Reasonable mathematical skills required
Must have strong communication skills and must be a team player with the staff. A "can do" attitude is essential.
Occasionally required to bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
Flexible hours/schedule and weekend and holiday shifts will be required.
