FOREST SERVICE CONSULTANTS
WORK WILL BE PERFORMED AT LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHEAST. ATLANTA AREA RESIDENCE IS NOT REQUIRED.
We are seeking qualified consultants to be available on demand for short-term (typically 1-2 weeks) assignments to provide consulting support to the U.S. Forest Service in a variety of technical and professional areas. Consulting services may include providing expert advice, assistance, guidance or counseling in support of the Forest Service mission and functions. This may include studies, reviews, analysis, report development, program consultation and recommendations, facilitation, audits, evaluations, specialized training, analyses and advisory services in multiple categories. Specific examples of assignments include, but are not limited to, the following:
„³ Serving as evaluators, coordinators, advisors, and coaches for training and operational Forest Service?s functions.
„³ Serving as advisor and consultant to the Forest Service and interagency groups such as Southern Area Coordinating Group, Multi-Agency Coordinating Group, National Wildfire Coordinating Group, Working Teams and Incident Investigative Teams.
„³ Facilitating organizational and functional meetings.
„³ Providing advice and expertise in the Forest Service?s coordination functions with federal and state fire management agencies, FEMA, state and local emergency management agencies, the U. S. military, and other organizations during domestic emergencies.
„³ Participating as subject matter expert in accident investigations and reporting.
„³ Researching and preparing technical and professional fire and aviation related reports, white papers, articles, booklets, pamphlets and related documents.
The work will be centered in the Department of Agriculture Regional Office in Atlanta, but work assignments may be at field locations throughout the Southern Region, which includes 13 states, from Virginia and Kentucky in the north to Florida in the south, and Texas and Oklahoma in the west, plus Puerto Rico. Business travel is reimbursable.
We want to have a sizeable cadre of consultants to cover a wide variety of technical, business, and professional areas of expertise related to the Forest Service mission of restoring and protecting our national lands and responding to related social needs. When task assignments are received a consultant with the required expertise and experience will be selected and assigned on a 1099 basis at a previously specified rate. To minimize travel expenses, we would like to have consultants available throughout the region.
