Job Description
dLife is seeking an editorial assistant for our Westport, CT headquarters. This position assists the editorial staff in the planning and production of dLife editorial content in all dLife media, with a focus on the website. The right candidate will have 2-3 years experience in producing consumer-focused health content in an online environment, with strong digital and social media skills and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, life sciences, or a related discipline.

Duties include:
• Research, develop, fact-check, write, and edit content for web, email, print, and broadcast in accordance with the dLife style guide and editorial policy.
• Work with SEO team to optimize web content for search.
• Coordinate administration of work commissioned to freelancers or licensed from other sources.
• Fact-check and proofread freelance copy and user submissions.
• Obtain rights to use materials from other publications.
• Reply to correspondence from users, viewers, and contributors.
• Daily news gathering and maintenance of diabetes newswire.
• Social media postings and dLife community moderation.
• Using a content management system to post new content.

Requirements:

* Bachelors degree (BA or BS) in English, journalism, advertising, communications, or the life sciences from four-year college or university.
* Minimum of two years experience writing consumer-facing health materials for print and/or web.
* Strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
* Knowledge of website development processes, including search engine optimization, strongly preferred.
* Experience in social media preferred.
* Working knowledge of diabetes helpful but not required.
* Proficient on Mac.

Personality:

* Excellent communicator.
* Has a knack for transforming clinical jargon into patient-friendly copy.

* Organized, good detail skills.
* Web and new media savvy.

* Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
