Director Solar Marketing
Experienced originator and power marketer to lead origination strategy, long-term offtake negotiations and short-term power marketing for a solar power company, expecting to grow from 3 MW to 700 MW of operating power plants in North America in three to five years.
Responsibilities:
Set the origination strategy to grow a solar power plant company in three to five years from 3 MW to 700 MW of power generation capacity across about 70 power plants. Each power plant requires offtake agreements ranging from $30 million - $80 million.
Identify targets and lead negotiations of long-term bilateral PPA and SREC contracts.
Identify targets and lead short-term power marketing efforts, including capacity, energy and SREC sales.
Lead internal or external daily nomination and dispatch team in compliance with various ISO and control area protocols.
Cultivate and maintain industry contacts with utilities, brokers, retailers and other existing or potential offtakers.
Coordinate closely with SVP Finance, SVP EPC & Technology and SVP Development Operations to ensure optimal contract pricing and structuring.
Oversee staff of one to three direct reports.
Prepare material and present to the Operating Committee and Board of Directors as required.
Report directly to the President.
Compensation is the listed salary plus a bonus TBD.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics or finance. MBA preferred.
Ten+ years experience in origination and power marketing.
Experience in nomination and dispatch with various ISOs or control areas preferred.
Strong organizational and communications skills.
Exceptional analytical skills.
Existing network of utilities, brokers, retailers and potential offtakers.
Ability to find and make new contacts at targeted offtakers.
At times, non-traditional work hours (including some evening and weekend work) are required to meet deadlines.
