Director Of Resource Development
Director of Resource Development The BC Centre for Ability was established in 1969 to address the need for community-based treatment and rehabilitation for persons with physical, neurological and/or developmental disabilities and their families. The Centre is guided by a vision that â?oeeveryone, whatever his or her special challenges, has the ability to succeed in life and that the community is the best place for all of us to grow, develop, and contribute. Its 185 staff members and community-based professionals focus on what clients can accomplish, despite the considerable challenges they face. The Centre is now widely recognized as a leader in British Columbia in providing a bridge between evidence, research, best (or promising) practice, and their application to high quality, accessible programs for people with disability. An annual budget of over $18 million enables the Centre to provide essential services each year for more than 3,000 individuals and their families in Greater Vancouver and elsewhere in British Columbia. The Centre also works closely with more than 50 private and public sector partners to provide transition and employment programs for youth and adults with disabilities, facilitating employment for an average of 500 clients each year. The Centre receives sustained support from the BC Centre for Ability Foundation, which is dedicated to enabling the Centre to innovate and achieve excellence to its programs, provide professional education and leadership, and extend its services to more persons with disability. A full-time Director of Resource Development position is available in September 2010 at the BC Centre for Ability. The Director of Resource Development reports to the BC Centre for Ability Association Executive Director and works closely with BC Centre for Ability Foundation Board Members. Role/Responsibilities Planning and implementation of a strategic revenue development plan and programs, including major gifts, annual giving, special events, special needs campaigns and planned giving Initiating and managing corporate and community partnerships, aimed at increasing awareness of and support for the work of the Centre Promoting the Centre branding and Centre's work Supervising the Manager of Communications responsible for media relations; maintaining the Centre's web site; and producing the Annual Report, quarterly newsletters, and other communications vehicles Coordinating volunteer support for the Foundation's fundraising and communications programs Overseeing and coordinating Board and other volunteers, staff, and contractor initiatives Qualifications University degree and/or business, fundraising, communications diploma Minimum of eight years of development experience, with strong exposure to marketing communications and stakeholder engagement A track record of achieving annual giving, major gift, and special event goals Ability to inspire and work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, e.g., Board Members and other volunteers, donors, and sponsors Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral and presentation) Ability to think strategically and demonstrate initiative and creativit Management experience: supervision of staff and planning, and demonstrated budget and financial management Capacity to multi-task and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team Capital campaign experience desirable Technology competency and experience with development software, i.e., Razor's Edge Membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals and CAFP an asset This is an opportunity to join a highly respected not-for-profit organization whose Board Members and staff members are passionate about helping those with disabilities realize their abilities.
