Regional Sports Network is searching for a Director, Product & Technology to manage all product initiatives and technology for the RSN Digital Media Group. This position will have direct oversight of the product management processes used throughout development and the definition and implementation of the strategic plans for all products and service portfolios. This position is based in Houston (Woodlands), TX.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain oversight of the editorial and optimization staff of the operation at Network Center Houston in the Woodlands, TX., which is the central hub of digital content production. Assist in the management of the 10 Digital Content Managers (DCMs), each individually located at our regional offices. Act as the main liaison to the Sports Engineering staff and the Canvas Engineering team. Other responsibilities include working with Sales, Business Development and production on strategies to monetize the local sites; frequent trips to regional offices; assisting in the formulation of operating budgets; managing and authorizing digital production expenditures; working with field operations, legal and graphics divisions to ensure highest level of digital content and execution. Establish consumer experience strategies, market and competitive analysis and set the agenda for the engineering and development cycle, overall Technology and Architecture leadership. Supervise all Project Management with our technology platform developers; Sports Interactive and Canvas as well as Design. Work with management team to set priorities and resolve schedule or resource conflicts.
Requirements:
Must posses 8 years of professional experience working in online technology/broadcast/sports environment 3+ years experience working in Digital Media / Digital Publishing, responsible for technical product development and implementation of new technologies; familiarity with mobile devices, tablets PCs, etc. is highly preferred Must have excellent technology skills with strong knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, Photoshop, CSS; working knowledge of MS office, iNews, Final Cut Pro, digital images in general; familiarity with Windows and Macintosh operating systems, collaboration software (i.e.: Basecamp) Must have previous experience working with online content management systems Experience developing requirements/specifications for high availability/high-traffic web applications; experience developing wireframes, work flows and strong understanding of systems architecture, databases and application development Knowledge of client facing web products, web design and user interface; previous experience developing, delivering and expanding online products Must be able to think strategically and anticipate future consequences and trends and blend them into the overall product plan. Experience working with small budgets, in small to large markets and with multiple sites Adept at verbal and written communication, excellent people skills Bachelor's degree with preference given to candidates with degrees in computer science/engineering or related
