General Description:
The Director of Marketing and Business Development will have direct accountability for ensuring we have enough patients to operate our Proton Center (the “Center”) at capacity. The Director of Marketing and Business Development will report to the Center President with a dotted line report to the Director of Center Marketing at our corporate office. This position will be responsible for leading and developing the regional strategic plan and execution of pre-launch, launch and ongoing marketing initiatives to ensure success of a local Center. He or she will have direct accountability for assessing the market opportunities, developing detailed plans and leading the specific tactics to generate an ongoing patient referral stream and high patient demand. The individual will have responsibility for developing and leading the local marketing and sales programs, including all key aspects of generating patient leads. This will include, but not be limited to, physician and hospital outreach, patient advocacy, PR, advertising, coordination of clinical educational programs and local, cooperative programs with our hospital and physician affiliates.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan to achieve annual revenue goals
Educate and influence physicians in the referral chain to the advantages of protons
Effectively position proton therapy as an alternative treatment for patients with cancer
Get an on “the ground” read of market dynamics and opportunities as they progress during ramp up period and ongoing.
Analyze business metrics to identify issues, gaps and opportunities
Create and manage the local marketing budget
Work closely with cross functional teams (including local physicians) in support of new treatment technologies and clinical programs. This will include market analysis and developing an execution plan around the roll-out of new technologies and clinical programs at the Center.
Work effectively with corporate resources dedicated to operations, business development, marketing and corporate finance.
Work closely with center marketing teams at other ProCure locations and share best practices
Physician and hospital outreach planning and execution
Manage local marketing and sales team and create the segmentation and targeting strategy and calling plans
Create calling plan with measurable objectives
Develop and maintain relationships with local physician and hospital partners
Identify and prioritize referral targets
Develop collateral and “leave behinds” for use in marketing to referral targets (educational materials, available clinical programs and protocols etc)
Attend selected site visits to key physicians and institutional targets
Work closely with the Center’s Business Analyst to identify referral trends and related market developments and create responsive plans to capitalize on such observations.
Patient education and advocacy
Identify and educate key advocacy groups
Work with community groups to educate prospective patients on the advantages of proton therapy
Develop and implement patient support initiatives
Measure and provide input and recommendations on patient experience
Develop and execute comprehensive local marketing tactical programs.
Manage local PR initiatives and agency
Local advertising
Direct mail
Coordination of co-branding initiatives with hospital and physician partners,
Plan or participate in local events (in alignment with overall corporate communications)
Develop and manage inventory of local collateral (in alignment with corporate branding and messaging guidelines)
Work Experience Requirements:
A minimum of five years experience in marketing; with an emphasis in healthcare.
At least five years experience in management. Direct or indirect sales management preferred.
At least two years experience in direct or indirect business development.
At least five years operating in a regional or local business setting (not corporate headquarters position).
Experience working directly with physicians required.
Experience leading cross functional, strategic teams.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of local market dynamics as it relates to patient referral patterns
Ability to maintain an “ear to the ground” and create new programs by listening to MDs and patients.
Proven expertise executing local marketing, sales, advocacy and PR programs
Ability to develop strong relationships and trust in the healthcare market
Ability to operate in both a clinical and community setting
Experience managing an advertising or PR agency
Able to work flexible hours
Experience in working directly with physicians a plus
Excellent computer skills, including use PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
