Overview:
The Director - Development, Data Services will be responsible for the customer and retail analytics DataMart and data management as well as a suite of home grown and 3 rd party products or solutions that meet the information processing and analytic needs of . These solutions enable merchants, planners, finance and the marketing business units the ability to track and evaluate key analytics such as customer activity in relationship with the brand. This position and these solutions enable business users with technology solutions in fields of customer relationship management, business reporting, and retail shopping analytics. This person will be in charge of managing the development teams responsible for this solution suite.
The candidate must have a strong understanding of retail business needs in the data management, reporting, information processing and analytics space as well as knowledge of technology and trends. The Director will partner with business stakeholders, product management and application teams, the strategy team and other technology delivery organization, to optimize and expend data management and business intelligence capabilities of . It will be key to partner with the product management function to establish and improve processes, roadmaps, project sizing and continuously work to maximize the technology value to the business. Reporting to this organization are managers for the database and analytics tools teams, data architects, technical leads, systems analysts and ETL developers.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage Development teams.
Provide oversight of project execution to assure teams deliverables.
Own Customer and Retail DataMart and Data Warehouse development and data management systems and capabilities that include ETL and Master Data Management.
Establish and oversee robust user support and issue resolution processes.
Partner with business counterparts on a project roadmap planning, sizing and prioritization.
Own the overall technology delivery of Data Management and Business Intelligence platforms and solutions at .
Responsible for successful delivery of third party and home grown business intelligence solutions balancing strategy with tactical needs and resource / knowledge capital.
BI solutions include, but are not limited to: reporting, planning, forecasting and financial management tools and infrastructure, meta data management, semantic schemas, data load and transformation technologies and methods.
Together with business partners, manage rolling 3 year plan that aligns organizational and technology to technical capabilities and resource capacity.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with Macys, Inc IT, vendors, business as well as other IT and support teams within .
Provide regular updates to IT and Business leadership Teams on the Performance Management/ Business Intelligence strategic roadmap.
Act as point of escalation for all project delivery.
Work with Application Delivery Leadership as necessary to establish risk mitigation and issue resolution/escalation.
Skills Summary:
BS Degree in IT discipline and applicable field, MS or MBA degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
10 years of management experience in an IT environment.
5 years of managing data and business intelligence focused solutions and teams.
Strong knowledge of data warehouse and ETL technologies, including extensive knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data modeling, OLAP tools and reporting tools in a retail context.
Experience in DataMart and MDM implementation using DB2, Data Stage and Quality Stage.
Experience building SOA architectures.
Demonstrated ability to deliver projects in a fast paced, multi stakeholder environment within scope, timeline, and budget.
Strong understanding of the Software/Program Development Lifecycle and development methodologies. Agile framework experience preferred.
Strong understanding of infrastructural technologies relevant for the support of application development, e.g. databases, server, etc.
Experience in building strong integration methodologies in a large scale heterogeneous environment where both packaged software and internally developed software exists.
Possesses retail business fluency and business presence - ability to engage with the business with credibility and positive relationship management outcomes.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills are an absolute must.
Effective leader with very strong interpersonal, leadership and management skills with a strong team orientation and the ability to lead teams and organizations on a global basis.
Ability to manage senior business partner relationships, build trust and credibility.
Well developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
