Director Of Corporate Communications
Position Title: Director of Corporate Communications Department: Corporate Communications & Promotion Reports To: Senior Vice-President, Development Position Summary: Successfully develop and execute all aspects of a comprehensive corporate communications plan, ensuring high quality, well-known identities for the WNYPBA stations, initiatives and organization. Responsibilities Include : - Develop and execute WNED’s branding, positioning and institutional image strategies. Through effective multi-media, strategies create brand identity and distinctive image that accurately reflects the scope, quality, reach and impact of all WNED’s services. - Develop strong relationships with media, community leaders, public broadcasting peers and national organizations to advance the mission and goals of WNED and ThinkBright and Well . Develop WNED’s sub-brand ThinkBright and Well through effective marketing and communications strategies. Establish WNED as a national content provider within the public broadcasting industry and national media. Oversee all web/online, advertising, promotion, graphics, and publicity activities. - Oversee all aspects of the creation and final production of the WNED Magazine (monthly guide – 12 issues per year – print version). Work with Senior Vice President of Development to successful create and launch a new “members only” online version of the magazine. - Work with various station departments (Production, Development, TV Programming, Radio Programming, Underwriting, etc) to promote WNED and create content in the online version of WNED Magazine , and also on the WNED web site and its other online entities (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, iPhone application sites, etc.) - Work with Senior Vice President of Development and other applicable staff on the creation of a WNED Annual Report and various “one sheet” descriptive materials about the organization as a whole (all stations) and individual local program productions (as required). - Hire, train and manage department staff and manage overall budget. Serve as member of the President’s staff and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Education Required: § Bachelor’s degree required; communications, journalism or broadcasting preferred. § Minimum of 5 years’ management experience is preferred, ideally in media and/or non-profit setting. § Deep interest in and commitment to lifelong learning. § Experience managing staff, budgets, timelines and strategic plans. § Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
