Director of Banking Business Development
Our client has an immediate opportunity for a seasoned leader within the Banking & Insurance industry to lead a Chicago based Banking & Insurance Practice on the IT systems side. The Practice Director will play an active role on the firm wide Banking & Insurance leadership team in addition to leading the Chicago based team. He/she will be expected to build, retain and grow a team of Chicago and National clients and employees specializing in banking & insurance operations, systems, and IT. This role entails significant responsibility in developing new business, managing the client relationship at the executive levels while providing direction and oversight to project teams. Most importantly, candidates should be passionate about what they do and enjoy a fun, entrepreneurial environment.
We are seeking candidates with more than ten years of industry experience, specifically with middle market ($1-15B in Assets) clients. Candidates must have solid experience with operational risk management, data analytics, banking technology (e.g. core and online banking systems), and mergers/acquisitions. Ideal candidate would also have experience with customer relationship management, financial modeling, business case development, process redesign and payments.
Directors have three main areas of responsibility:
1. Business Development
a. Cultivate new and existing client business development opportunities for the Banking & Insurance practice, with an annual consulting revenue target minimum of $1 million
b. Significant generation of weekly prospecting/networking activities (events, meetings, phone calls, emails) in the pursuit of new client acquisition and brand awareness
c. Originate and manage business development opportunities and sales cycle with prospective clients
d. Actively build a professional network and affiliate network in the local community
e. Actively participate in relevant organizations within the Banking & Insurance Industry
f. Excellent understanding of clients business needs turning those goals into concrete projects and detailed proposals
g. Lead development of proposals, work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for project prospects
2. Practice Development
a. Ability to create effective go-to-market strategies while driving the development/enhancement of Banking & Insurance practice methodologies, best practices and approaches to client delivery
b. Ability to lead, mentor and grow consultants and actively participate in the performance management process
c. Participate actively in the recruiting process for additional practice managers and consultants
d. Entrepreneurial desire and selflessness to give your time, energy, and passion to growing the firms culture and our people both inside and outside of office hours
3. Client Delivery
a. Lead engagements by communicating and reporting project status to C-level executives and IT management, including budget, risks, issues, etc.
b. Report project budget and finances both internally and for clients
c. Mentor and manage teams of younger consultants to ensure quality of delivery and to keep projects on time and budget
d. Quickly respond to client requests for immediate issues while also being able to drive projects to completion
e. Analyze each client's specific request and determine the underlying problem and recommend proper solutions
Qualifications:
• A BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Operations Management, Computer Science or equivalent; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience working within the banking and insurance industry focusing on processes, systems and technology
• Must have led a relevant consulting group or practice in the local market in the past 3 years
• Strong business development and an active professional network of contacts in the local market
• Membership and visibility in relevant professional organizations
• Publication in designated area – this is ideal, not required
• Strong project management methodology background, including schedule, scope, issue and risk management experience, change management, strategic planning and analysis
• Industry designated certifications is a plus
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong communication skills to be able to work with clients and present to C-level executives.
• Ability to travel a minimum of 30%+ is required
