Director, National Television Investment
The following are the responsibilities and duties of the Director, National Television Investment. This is not an all-inclusive list and will vary based on the needs of the business.
Role
The Director, National Television Investment is responsible for all National TV investments in Network, Cable and Syndication.
The Director is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and strategic direction within the media group, which will ultimately result in outstanding results for the client(s). In addition, the Director oversees managing the career paths of his/her staff.
Management:
Assist the Managing Director with group budgets, both internal (salaries, raises, etc.) and external (client budgets with staffing ramifications)
Ensure solid client relationships
Assist the Managing Director with business documents and presentations
Oversees the negotiation, presentation, and implementation of national television on network, cable and syndication
Supervise and coordinate the efforts and workflow of the account team(s)
Monitor and guide the purchase of national TV in specific instances/situations
Communicate with account leadership across the OMD Strategy teams and the other media investment teams (Print, Digital, Local Media and OOH)
Manage the quarterly/annual compilation of client spending projections, and coordinate with the Directors of Finance for the respective hub
Manage staff, oversee/conduct performance evaluations, provide salary recommendations, and foster employees’ development
Strategy and Plan Development:
Oversee planning costs ensuring the most current marketplace intelligence is being applied
Direct the team to fulfill the Checkmate approach and participate in Checkmate sessions. Work with colleagues in Strategy and/or the Strategic Business Units, or independently, in each of the phases:
Understand – provide insights into consumers, brand, product and media
Design – identify behaviors, barriers, drivers and apertures; develop communication strategies
Create – create specific tangible executional ideas
Capitalize – bring activity schedule to life; encompass negotiation strategies and implementation of the buy
Coordinate strategies/tactics for the Upfront marketplace and determine what is best for and Agency
Oversee optimization of budget dollars within the plan strategy
Provide input and direction on budget allocation
Develop negotiation strategies based on changing conditions in the marketplace for all aspects of National TV
Develop and lead the implementation of integrated opportunities and oversee the various communications programs
Negotiation and Stewardship:
Facilitate good relations and flow of ideas with the sales management contacts
Partner with agency leadership in the negotiation of major, long-term media contracts
Ensure all buys deliver the media strategy and investment specification
Collaborate with the team to ensure the negotiation strategy is sound and the rating projections are accurate
Compile overall post-buy analysis performance for the Agency
Monitor clearance of discrepancies and accounting functions for all offices and accounts on a timely basis
Media Expertise:
Maintain active relationships with senior sales management
Meet with sales representatives and vendors and assess areas of opportunity for and its brands
Keep abreast of industry trends (trade press, seminars, current events, etc.) that may impact ’s business
Stay current on emerging networks, new technologies, marketplace conditions and opportunities for and OMD
