Job Description The Director of Marketing is accountable for plans and implementations of marketing and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets consistent with the enterprise positioning statement. This role requires one to work closely with a cross-functional team of executives and business unit leaders, providing them with the support they need to properly integrate and manage the marketing and branding components into their respective strategies, operating plans and budgets. This position will manage an internal and external team in the development of marketing and collateral materials to support increased brand awareness, lead generation aligned to new and existing products and offerings strategies. Additionally, the Director will lead the development of functional operating plans, budgets and analytics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the function. Essential Accountabilities: * Articulates business goals and strategy targets through the efficient and effective development marketing strategies, branding, plans and advocacy in support of a $1.2B business unit. * Develops and implements strategic marketing plans, communications and forecasts to achieve company objectives for products and services in support of entering 6 new markets. * Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends. * Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, publications and customer meetings in support of lead generation and pursuit efforts . * Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market and customer share of wallet . * Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities: * Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets; utilizing trending performance metrics. * Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions. * Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities and generates alternative recommendations to enhance the strategic positioning . * Directs market channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals. * Analyzes and optimizes expenditures to comply with budgetary requirements and maintain competitive positioning. * Develops branding alternatives and recommendations through the creation of a branding strategy and plan.
Qualifications/Requirements: * B.S. degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, English or other related field of study. * 10+ years of working and leading executive-level marketing & branding functions and activities. * Demonstrated ability to lead others through influence and collaborations. * Experience with defense, space, aerospace, or high technology cultures preferred. * Ability to effectively interact at all level of the organization from senior level executives to all other employment segments, and effectively manage a matrix organization. * Strong interpersonal, writing and presentation skills with the ability to conceptualize, structure, write, and present for a wide range of audiences. Travel:up to 40% to support multiple work locations in Rochester, NY, Fort Wayne, IN, West Springfield, MA, Bloomfield, NJ and Roanoke, VA.
