SUMMARY
Responsible for the strategic, tactical and analytical development of all system-wide store marketing programs. Oversees advertising agencies, research suppliers and vendors. Is responsible for the timely and efficient development and distribution of advertising vehicles (e.g. print, electronic, hot sheets and e-commerce). Responsible for the development and implementation of the annual marketing, promotional, and community relations calendar. Performs these duties personally or through management of subordinate staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directs the successful execution of marketing and promotional programs across all affected stores to achieve sales objectives. Effectively leads cross-functional teams in achieving sales objectives. Communicates all activities with appropriate team members.
Directs the development of the annual marketing, promotional, and community relations calendar. Leads a team in understanding areas of opportunity and past program performance. Teams with other Home Office and Regional staff to assure integrated communications and maximum effectiveness.
Develops and implements marketing programs designed to leverage our knowledge of customer behavior to develop strong links to target new and existing customers resulting in more frequent visitation, higher spending per visit, and/or greater lifetime profitability per customer.
Oversees the management of internal and external creative resources. Provides creative direction to these resources to ensure the successful achievement of communication goals. Works with marketing management and agencies in recommending appropriate media to support each promotion.
Develops programs and communications for possible testing by the organization in order to meet its on-going financial and strategic objectives.
Supervises staff in the development and execution of marketing communication materials ensuring individual growth and development.
Provides direction to external suppliers to ensure a superior level of customer understanding and data gathering. Determines the need for dissemination of this information to appropriate departments within the company.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages team members in the Marketing department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; MBA preferred; minimum five to seven years experience in a multi-unit retail/grocery/consumer goods environment; agency experience and/or experience with all levels of media; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and presentations. Ability to speak clearly, concisely and logically, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
