Position Summary


The Director of Product Marketing (DPM) is responsible for positioning, launching and evangelizing F5 solutions out into the marketplace. This is a strategic role within the company, with responsibility to market F5’s core BIG-IP portfolio of products (ADCs). The Director of Product Marketing must be a market expert, understanding how IT customers view and use the products to effectively position F5 solutions for growth.

In this role, the Director of Product Marketing will lead a team of Product Marketing Managers across F5’s range of Application Delivery Networking (ADN) solutions; including traffic management, security and accelerations products. They should have expertise in developing strategic market plans and positioning for a large product line. The DPM will be responsible for conducting primary market research, competitive positioning, developing product marketecture, delivering core product collateral, as well as driving the company overall go-to-market activities (launches) for BIG-IP.


The DPM will work closely with customers, partners, analyst and F5 executive leadership. They must be skilled at tailoring the message and communicating to all audiences. The DPM must partner effectively with the Product Managers and to ensure solutions are well targeted, positioned, and marketed across industry segments.

 

Responsibilities

     

    • Conduct primary market research and deliver annual product marketing and business plans. Perform sales, trend, and profitability analysis.
    • Drive effective product and portfolio positioning and collateral. Including: spec sheets, presentations, videos, whitepapers, website content
    • Define and drive strategic product launches and go to market activities
    • Evangelize F5 and solution to key industry thought leaders, press, partners and customers.
    • Provide leadership and manage a team of Product Marketing Managers for F5 Application Networking portfolio.
    • Effectively partner with key internal decision makers in marketing communications, sales and product management Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

     

      Qualifications

         

        • Requires excellent marketing execution and business analysis skills with a proven track record of effectively promoting products.
        • Strong understanding of networking and enterprise or service provider IT is a must.
        • 5-10 years experience in application delivery, security solutions or acceleration markets
        • 10+ years managing and promoting high technology products, from development through launch and sales ramp up
        • History of product management and marketing accomplishments and initiative
        • Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently
        • Experience developing relationships with suppliers and co-marketing partners highly desirable
        • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field. MBA a plus.
        • Travel: 30%

         

          Physical Demands and Work Environment

          Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 40% of the time spent traveling.
