The marketing manager will be a key member of the worldwide database marketing team that is responsible for the strategy and tactical execution of Expedia's 1:1 communications globally. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, this person will be part of a team that is specifically responsible for all Major Market (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Australia & New Zealand) activity as well as developing initiatives for global impact. The person in this role will have a particular focus on initiatives that are related to Customer Relationship Marketing. This role will work closely with internal creative resources as well as external agency partners. This position is best suited for a highly driven individual who has strong experience in email and direct marketing communications, segmentation, CRM, lifecycle and loyalty management and is looking to apply that experience to a high profile team with in a growth company.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Become recognized within the company as an expert on the 1:1 marketing space, as well as Expedia's email marketing practice.
Manage and continually optimize the creation and execution of all strategic and tactical elements of a portfolio of database marketing campaigns. This includes setting creative direction for in-house and external Creative teams, including campaign objectives, messaging, and potential templates
Create and lead development of ongoing communications targeted toward multiple key segments within the Expedia customer base
Work collaboratively with various internal teams to identify and implement new marketing programmes based on development & approval of ROI based business justification.
Under the Senior Marketing Manager's direction, represent the commercial business objectives of UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Australia & New Zealand within Database Marketing overall
Act as primary team representative to these various internal clients who rely on email marketing to advance their business needs.
Continually develop, measure, and optimize campaign and portfolio testing programs using a Champion - Challenger paradigm. This position will assume direct ROI responsibility for portfolio programs and will be expected to maximize profitability of these programs over time.
Manage internal and external resources to ensure that campaigns are executed accurately, effectively, and within budget.
Work collaboratively with internal groups to identify database marketing opportunities to more effectively reach consumers in various high value segments.
Where profitable and most efficient, identify and exploit opportunities rapidly acquire customer prospects to grow databases.
Requirements:
2-4 years experience in direct/database marketing or customer relationship marketing program development and/or implementation. Expertise in catalogue direct marketing, continuity program direct marketing, and/or the travel & leisure industry a plus.
2+ years experience utilizing outbound email marketing, ideally in a B-to-C environment, preferred.
Strong understanding of Internet-based consumer behaviour and direct marketing principles.
Advanced project management skills & experience a must
Strong data evaluation skills, with the ability to extract and interpret data from various sources to offer creative marketing and product solutions
Able to develop strong working relationships with internal peers and agency partners, and can get cooperation in a non-authority relationship
Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience
Fluency in Italian, French, German, Italian or Dutch as well as English is a definite advantage
Education:
Bachelors degree in Marketing or related field is preferred, or equivalent experience
