A member of our Technical Services Division, located in Alexandria, VA, has an opportunity for a
Database Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
Work as a member of a Northrop Grumman TS team supporting the JST OSD Clearinghouse. We are seeking a highly motivated person to serve as a Database Administrator to maintain and update the Office of the Secretary of Defense Energy Siting Clearinghouse Renewable Energy Project database. Collaborates with Energy Siting Clearinghouse team members and external agencies, to include DoD Components and other government agencies, for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information on renewable energy projects affecting DoD training, readiness, operations and testing. Coordinates all database activities including upgrades, populating, refreshing, and repairing for the purpose of ensuring data accuracy and availability. Monitors database activities and performance to ensure data integrity and operational reliability. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources and provides database extracts for use by the Director of the Energy Siting Clearinghouse and team members. Serves as a technical resource to the Energy Siting Clearinghouse for the purpose of providing information and advice regarding database management. Produces ad hoc reports and presentations. Trains Energy Siting Clearinghouse team members for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use database information efficiently. Troubleshoots database malfunctions for the purpose of resolving operational issues and restoring services. Participates in meetings, conferences and workshops for the purpose of providing and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• Requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
• Must have a minimum six (6) years working as a defense contractor, DoD civilian or military member
• Experience in full life-cycle of project development including requirements, design, development, testing deployment and training
• Must be able to demonstrate superior analytical and research skills and possess a general working knowledge and understanding of database backups
• Excellent and well founded, written and oral communication skills and ability to foster client relationships and working relationships with peers are absolutely essential.
• Minimum of six (6) years proficient experience with MS Office Suite, Visual Basic programming, html programming and other web-based programming languages (e.g., JAVA, PERL, PHP) required
• Requires a minimum of three (3) years experience with expertise in designing and creating MS Access databases per client's specifications, importing data into and from Access to Excel and back while preparing reports in Access
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, engineering or mathematics and three years of related work experience. Additional four (4) years of related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current and active U.S. Secret level security clearance to be selected. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
• Military experience is a plus.
• Experience with Visual Basic programming and/ or geospatial systems, to include Google Earth and/or ERSI ARC Map suite is highly preferred.
