Resources for Human Development (RHD) is a comprehensive, nonprofit, social service organization with headquarters in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. Founded in 1970, RHD currently supports and oversees more than 160 programs in 14 states, (working quietly behind the scenes of many well known programs.) RHDs mission is to empower people as they build the highest level of independence possible, building better lives for themselves, their families and their communities. From providing residential services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, chemical addiction and those who are homeless, to job training, assisted transportation, and crisis intervention, RHD provides individualized, quality assistance wherever the need exists. At RHD there are no divisive walls, no cubicles, and no private offices. Our experience has shown that in a relaxed, casual atmosphere where staff has the chance to deal openly and directly with each other, the work environment is significantly better, communications are clearer, and attitudes remain positive. RHD is proud to have been named a finalist in the Philadelphia Business Journals Best Places to Work 2009 competition. RHD is pleased to announce its fall 2010 internships. We are seeking local college undergraduates who are eager to gain knowledge in their chosen field of study and, at the same time, acquire practical, resume-enhancing work experience. Our fall internships start September 20, 2010 and run for 10 weeks. Each internship is 15 hours per week, although days and hours of the week are negotiable based on students class schedules and RHDs business needs. Interns will receive a stipend upon completion of their term. This intern will work in RHDs Management Information Systems (MIS) department, specifically within the Infrastructure Engineering group. The intern will train and work in the following areas: Patch management Stay current on server and application patches, and work with the team to ensure necessary patches are deployed Email administration Work with the Infrastructure Engineer to build the corporate directory and improve functionality of email systems Documentation Help team keep documentation up-to-date Customer service Provide support to Technical Support Services through escalation of tickets Learning new technologies While developing new ways to integrate them into the culture of RHD The ideal candidate will be at least a junior in an MIS program at a 4-year college or university. The candidate should have an interest in Network Design or Engineering, Information Security, Messaging & Telephony, or Systems Administration and Engineering. Candidates should be detail-oriented and ready to learn to improve their skills in MIS. Interns will receive a stipend upon completion of their term.
