COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING SPECIALIST
Villa Charities is a leader in developing non-profit projects in the GTA that celebrate, share and promote Italian culture and traditions. Over 40 years, the Villa Charities family of organizations has grown to include: Villa Colombo, Columbus Centre, Caboto Terrace, VITA Community Living Services, Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery, Villa Charities Foundation, Casa DelZotto, Mens Sana, and Villa Colombo Vaughan Di Poce Centre. Such varied programs and services require specialized communications, both internally for staff, volunteers and board members, as well as to communicate the Villa Charities message and brand to the public. Communications and Marketing Specialist: Reporting to the President and CEO of Villa Charities Inc. and the Executive Director of Villa Foundation, this position will manage and coordinate all communications and marketing requirements for Villa Charities to assist in building brand awareness, both internally and externally. The incumbent will contribute, develop and implement communication and marketing initiatives and strategies that will support successful general awareness and fundraising campaigns. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Villa Charities: Act as a brand ambassador for Villa Charities, including monitoring use of logos, implementing communications plans and ensuring correct messaging is present in all communication materials Coordinate production of three issues of Villa Charities Newsletter per year, including liaising with staff from all Villa Charities affiliates to research and gather information as well as writing articles and working with graphic department on layout and design Coordinate updates and new content for Villa Charities website Oversee all media relations including preparing press releases as required, liaising with media at events and maintain and develop positive relationships with all media contacts Provide staff support at events - including acting as photographer or ensuring photographer is present, creating event programs, sending invitations to guests, etc. Liaise with staff and volunteers to gather information and/or ensure Villa Charities news is shared Oversee content of television promotional system in Columbus Centre Collect and monitor all press on Villa Charities and maintain press clippings library Other tasks as assigned by the President and CEO Actively participate as a member of the Villa Charities team Essential duties and responsibilities - Villa Foundation: Coordinate the design and production of all Foundation promotional materials, including brochures, case for giving, annual reports, Report to Donors, etc Oversee all media relations, including preparing press releases as required, liaising with media at events and maintaining positive relationships with all media contacts Liaise with external PR and design firms as required Oversee creation of marketing collateral and coordinate media participation and coverage for all Foundation fundraising events Participate in the creation of communication strategies that advance the Foundation9s organizational directions and support fundraising goals Coordinate and enhance Foundation messaging in all existing Villa Charities communication vehicles - including website and newsletter and execute additional enhancements for stronger and strategic Foundation communication Qualifications: 3-5 years progressive experience in a similar role, preferably in a non-profit environment Post-secondary degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field Exceptional writing skills (writing sample may be requested) Ability to handle multiple high-level tasks and meet strict deadlines Knowledge of social media tools and their implementation in a non-profit environment Experience working with members of the media, including members of the Italian-Canadian media Ability to be a proactive team member Familiarity with the Italian-Canadian community in Toronto Access to a vehicle is required Deadline: Interested applicants should forward their resume and cover letter, with salary expectations, no later than August 4, 2010 to: P al Di Iulio, CEO, Villa Charities Inc.
