A well-established public relations firm in the nations capital seeks a senior communications professional to assist in managing and supporting activities of the thriving practice. The successful candidate will participate in strategy and planning to craft communications campaigns ranging from message development and market research to envisioning national policy campaigns. The position will also require skillful project planning and effective deployment of human and material resources. The Senior Communications Executive will serve as point of contact for special campaigns and sustained account management and guide associates and junior support staff in creating initiatives to maximize client services and satisfaction. The ability to lead and inspire the team is essential. A demand for excellence in work products and processes is necessary. The firm is open to candidate beginning engagement as a consultant on short-term project. The candidate must have demonstrated experience is management of multi-media campaigns including building message platforms, envisioning and supporting creative development and production of collateral assets ranging from factsheets and information kits to news advisories. Extensive contacts in media, communications and public policy sectors is desired. Ability to coordinate marketing initiatives and generate new business is also required. Qualifications At least 10 years experience in senior communications position; PR agency desired or related fields of journalism, public policy or social advocacy Supervisory authority overseeing, budgets, staff and projects Strong writing and copy editing skills demonstrated in clear and coherent manuscripts, plans and communications collateral Strong organizational, administrative, supervisory and time management acumen Ability to exercise both informal and formal leadership to foster team spirit Public policy experience demanding understanding of interplay between policy and communications Media contacts in both mainstream Washington press, regional media and other specialty areas Strong contacts among potential clients complementary to current roster Avid interest, understanding and exposure to news media and social marketing with existing contacts and proven ability to plan and rollout national campaigns Additional Qualifications: Selection The successful candidate will be selected based on quality of cover letter, strategic communications experience, supervisory experience, personal interviews, demonstrated written and oral communications skills and professional references.
