Job Description ** Note: Director level will be considered, commensurate with experience **

PURPOSE:
This position is accountable for leading the development and implementation of pre-launch Degludec and Degludec Plus market shaping business plans and activities. Focuses on advisory boards, KOL development, disease awareness campaigns, congress optimization, publication execution planning, and other related marketing launch planning in preparation of Degludec /Degludec Plus launch.
Develops and implements effective market shaping pre launch/launch plans in order to maximize market awareness and acceptance of Degludec and Degludec plus. Maximizes revenue, market share and profitability goals. Acts as the market shaping leader and point person to provide key input into strategic brand planning. Proactively communicates with brand leads to ensure alignment. May chair cross-functional brand and subteams, lead expert advisory discussions and represent the brandplans in management discussions.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to AVP and works closely with the Associate Brand Director, Degludec and Degludec Plus. Accountable for managing multiple internal relationships within Novo Nordisk, including other brands within Diabetes Marketing, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Sales, Legal, Commercial Effectivenessl and other local functions, as well as, with NNAS global marketing and medical personnel. External relationships include those with key thought leaders, speakers and contracted professional services vendors , agencies and consultants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

STRATEGIC TEAM LEADERSHIP/PLANNING
Leads the development and execution of strategic and tactical pre-launch, launch, and post launch market shaping business plans.
Works effectively with internal colleagues (i.e. sales, marketing, medical affairs, etc.) to lead the development of effective market shaping plans.
Provides strategic guidance on all areas of pre-launch market shaping functions including 1) KOL development 2) publication/communication plan 3) congress optimization 4) advisory boards.
Ensures market shaping plans are ligned with commercial brand strategies across the diabetes portfolio
Forges strong relationships with Global/International Marketing to maximize market shaping activities
Develops strong relationships with leading key opinion leaders/thought leaders to integrate into market shaping activities.
Proactively identifies strategies, activities and future direction for promotional medical education based on evaluation of competitive landscape.
Participates on commercialization teams as the market shaping lead for the brand and other related sub-teams.
Leads the effective integration of various marketing tactics medical education, market research and forecasting, advertising, public relations, sales force, patient education, etc.

Responsible for effectively managing budgets. Accountable to manage the brand/portfolio budget process for designated area - makes sound decisions to optimize spend and ensure that resources are appropriately allocated and quality of services are maintained while costs remain on track and according to budget. Monitor agency expenses by looking for opportunities to maximize value while minimizing agency costs. Follow internal and external procedures in managing contracts. Regularly tracks and reconciles expenses to ensure budget is on track.
Works closely with field sales to ensure market shaping related programs are developed that strongly support their direct and indirect needs with customers.
Ensures ongoing monitoring of all market shaping activities to ensure they are meeting established criteria and if not meeting criteria proactively implement corrective measures.
Manages the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way of Management.

PRODUCT INVESTMENT
Maximizes revenue and profitability and understands return on investment (ROI) concepts to ensure program effectiveness.
Develops and oversees implementation of key metrics. Regularly reviews current program progress to ensure profitability goals are on track.
Develops relationships with and receives commitment from relevant NNI and NNAS departments to ensure the successful execution of strategies.

PROMOTIONS
Directs, develops and oversees implementation of promotional programs, including coordination of involved external suppliers and agencies.
Develops and implements marketing plans.
Selects and manages professional services to create effective launch programs to maximize return on investment. This includes symposia, speaker's programs, print materials, and Phase IV studies.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. MBA or graduate degree preferred.
7+ years progressive brand management/marketing or medical education experience within the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent medical education agency required.
Knowledge of how to develop and implement market shaping /medical education programs required
Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical marketplace including medical, regulatory and clinical processes, preferably within diabetes.
A clinical understanding of diabetes management is preferred
Able to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines at one time
Outstanding planning and organizational skills with exceptionally high attention to quality of detail and proven track record of results and follow up.
Ability to manage and track budgets effectively across numerous projects
Product launch experience in a marketing role preferred
