Annual Giving Manager
Background Jewish Family Service Agency strengthens and enhances the quality of life of individuals and families throughout the Lower Mainland. The Annual Giving Manager will be responsible for coordinating annual fundraising programs and implementing special event activities. He/she will report to the Major Gifts Director. We seek an enthusiastic and experienced professional, to help us achieve our fundraising and special events goals. You will be part of a team that believes in innovation; that welcomes change; that looks for the unusual. We want someone with opinions, who is a good listener, who brings passion to their job. Annual Fundraising Activities - Manages annual fundraising campaigns including face to face donor solicitations for donors from $1 to $999. - Supervises the production of campaign-related reports for analysis. - Oversees tracking and acknowledgement of gifts as appropriate. - Organizes fundraising Telethons (Board and Professional) with Major Gifts Director. - Organizes meetings with Development and Communications Committee; execute agendas and meeting notes as appropriate. - Examines donors giving histories; generates reports as required for each fundraising activity. - Organizes ask events of varying types groups, parlor meetings, community events. Innovators Lunch - Works closely with ED, Board, and Innovators chair or co-chairs to ensure successful event. - Works closely with Table Captain Committee and Chair to recruit a minimum of $125 to $150K. - Works closely with Corporate Sponsor Committee Chairs and Committee to secure $125 to $150K. - Works closely with Day of Event chair to ensure well run food service, facility relations, etc. - Works with Host of Reception to secure food and beverage for the event - Ensures smoothly run and produced event in collaboration with Event Planner. - Oversees the recruitment and secures vetted, excellent speaker for the event. - Tracks all data Donor Stewardship - Leads the work of annual donor stewardship - meeting with donors; working with volunteers; sending out letters; notes and publications to donors (newsletters, Annual Reports); assisting with notes to file following meetings with donors. - Meets with annual donors, Board members, and community supporters to provide up dates on JFSA and current areas of client needs. Completes at least 2 to 3 meetings per week. - Researches and assembles background information on donors as appropriate for meetings with donors and the preparation of grant proposals. - Creates donor prospect lists; follows up as appropriate with staff and volunteers. - Works with the Development Administrative Assistant to ensure that research information is added to electronic files as appropriate. - Provides back up support for the Executive Director as required. - Adheres to Agency policies, procedures and work routines and represents JFSA at community functions as appropriate. Board Stewardship - Educates and engages volunteers in the fundraising goals of the agency. - Educates and nurtures Board involvement in donor stewardship and cultivation. - Meets with and supports Board members willing to cultivate and solicit donors. - Organizes at least 1 telethon during the year to focus on friends and lapsed donors with the Major Gifts Director. - Ensures ED is fully informed of all activities including arranged meetings. - Stewards, supports and cultivates the development of an effective Development Committee to support the work of the ED. Grants - Works closely with Grant writer to ensure that appropriate asks are being made to foundations. General and Other - Researches and identifies prospects. - Researches prospects utilizing Google search and other public sources. - Researches utilizing other Jewish community sources - JFGV, Jewish Foundation and other. - Works closely with Senior Full Charge Bookkeeper to ensure monthly income and expenses charged to various development efforts are accurately reported as part of budget and projections. - Researches new signature event for JFSA to be implemented for 2010/11 budget and roll out of 75th anniversary of the agency. - Develops budget for additional new signature event for JFSA to be prepared for 2010/11. - Reviews and develops proposal for new event to present to Board of Directors to gain support. - Reviews all correspondence before it is sent to the ED for signature and final review. - Ensures that accurate coding is utilized and that the Development Administrative Assistant can generate reports utilizing Raisers Edge queries. - Coordinates Polsky Golf Outing with Committee and family. - Coordinates Annual Bubbe Magnet Campaign or other non event campaign - Researches effective internet based fundraising campaign for JFSA Qualifications - University degree or diploma in the areas of Business Administration and/or Fundraising Management. - Proven success creating and implementing fundraising plans . - Strong interpersonal and donor stewardship skills. - Ability to work well with Executive Director and support the work of the agency - Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, and Raiser's Edge). - Exceptional time and project management skills. - Team player, with the ability to work independently. - Ability to project a positive, professional, courteous and helpful attitude. - Two to three years experience as a fundraiser in a non-profit environment working with volunteers. Compensation This is a full-time position, based on a five-day work week. Position start date is no later than August 16, 2010 . Salary is commensurate with experience.
