Summary:

We have a vacancy for a Data Analyst in our New Construction team in our Singapore office. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining information regarding vessels under construction throughout the world, with a strong emphasis on the Far East, in particular China.

Key responsibilities are:

To source information regarding ship newbuildings, and update fields on IHSF databases.
*
Communicate by telephone and written word with external organisations, especially shipbuilders, classification societies and ship owners for confirmation and/or receipt of data.

Build a network of contacts and be proactive in pursuing data sources.
*
Scrutinise a variety of correspondence, publications and other information sources and extract and evaluate relevant data.
*
To maintain and expand the company knowledge base in respect of shipbuilding with the specific focus on China.
* To represent the company in relation to the specialist area of data as it relates to the current databasing criteria of IHS.
Requirements:

The successful candidate should possess a high standard of the English language and Chinese Mandarin; both written and spoken and good communication skills for undertaking client communications. The candidate should have a good knowledge of Maritime affairs in particular the newbuilding market, and the ability to source and update a live database with a high standard of accuracy. They should also be proactive in monitoring of their own targets, self motivated and able to analyse problems and devise effective solutions.

Essential

Previous experience within the Maritime Industry.

Capable of communicating in English and Chinese Mandarin, both written and verbally to a very high standard.

A broad knowledge of different ship types.
*
Genuine interest in maritime affairs.
