Using our global infrastructure, Verisign processes over 60 billion interactions each day, more than three times the number of phone calls made in the United States daily.  Verisign helps registrars expand markets and increase renewals with critical technology and unmatched experience.  Verisign also offers a range of security services, including managed DNS, Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) mitigation and cyber-threat reporting. 

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Strategy, this position will be charged with facilitating development of the strategic direction of the Company.  The position is highly visible and requires frequent interaction with all staff levels, including the senior executive team.  This position will be responsible for the following major tasks:

Product and Innovation initiatives

• Help identify ways to improve operational efficiency, and analyze market trends and drivers across products, countries and client segments
• Identify new markets/niches/verticals where our existing expertise can be applied
• Monitor competitor activity related to emerging trends
• Recommend and prioritize specific actions with regard to emerging areas of interest
• For corporate level initiatives, lead strategy development up to and including business case development and initial product requirements

 Go-to-market / International expansion strategy

• Support research efforts to identify potential international market opportunities
• Make recommendation on current best practices which can be expanded into other international markets
• Uncover additional market opportunities and recommend action plans as required
• Develop strategic alliances and partnerships with firms whose business objectives  can be supported by our products and services

Corporate & ad hoc Initiatives

• Support internal consulting assignments on a variety of strategic topics such as market and competitive analysis for new opportunities, best practices research, etc.
• Support preparation of key leadership meeting including leadership team meetings, board of directors presentations, Analyst Day presentations, etc.
• Participate in the process to ensure alignment of strategic plan with operational plan

The ideal candidate will have the following professional qualifications:

• ·         15 years professional experience
• ·         10-15 years experience working in strategic roles for leading communications, media, entertainment and/or Internet companies
• ·          Knowledge of the internet, communications, media and information industries
• ·         Proven track record of successfully identifying growth opportunities, managing the growth process from inception to investment/execution
• ·         Prior strategy consulting experience with a leading firm is strongly preferred
• ·          Knowledge in strategy development including hypotheses development, option identification, data-driven business and market analysis, problem solving, consensus building and executive presentatio

• Bachelor's degree is required / MBA preferred.
